Wouldn't it be fairly quick to send them back to Germany head office for warranty fix-up? Or maybe you need to send them somewhere else.
Maybe look for really cheap ones for backup, or borrow some? I agree it was a problem being without phones for a few weeks. I feel better now that mine are fixed and taped up, I figure they're now more reliable, less worries about breakage. |

Anyone used these yet? Seriously considering them...
Edit: it, they look quality and even though I can't find a ton of reviews, the ones I do find seem favorable, I'm giving 'em a shot. |

I would always hear those before and they tell you the headphone bands are cracking, flexing, and the pieces are not properly fitting, so if you hear noises expect to see cracks soon.
If you put on the tape after seeing some cracking that will not be as good but it will still help. Possibly you might want to get the phones in perfect condition maybe after warranty repair before taping them up.
To minimize cracking problems, don't extend the cups out of the band any more than necessary, and when not in use store the phones so there is no stress on the band, by folding one of the cups inwards.

I've heard the cracking noises ever since day one.:nervous:
I always fold them up, by having both the earpieces folded in  . Is that bad??? |

That's good, it eliminates any strain on the headband when they are in storage or unused. I find that the strain is removed by just folding in one of the cups, but two would do it also.
Mmmm yes the cracking noise meant bad news to me, scary. I think sometimes the noise came from that joint gap near the bottom of the area where I put the tape. Usually it wasn't actually cracking but there was too much flexing, and eventually cracks happened. |

Just got sony MDR-V6 in the mail.
Even though I got them refurbished they look brand new and no sings of wear or anything. Sound soooo good after using damn iPod earbuds. Sound better then my brothers $60 altec lansing pair of headphones. They dont even compare to each other.
The desing is slick, feel great and are very comfortable. I like the fact that they fold and they have nice carry and storage bag with them.
Will report my DJing experience later, now, its music time :) |

Got my MDR7506's this morning, mixed on them at home for about 2 hours this afternoon, and I can't believe I ever doubted them.
The single best sounding and most comfortable pair of phones I've ever bought., after using the MDR V700's, the Pioneer HDJ1000's, the HD-25's, and Technics DJ 1200's, these are without a doubt the clear, all around winners.
Thanks to those that recommended them! |

Thought I'd throw up a quick headphone post.
My first pair of dj headphones were the pioneer hdj1000's... they snapped in half during normal use after about 6 months.
I then bought Sennheiser HD280's. I've really enjoyed the 280's... but after about 8 months use, the band shows a lot of cracking. I'm now on my third pair. these are great sounding headphones, but I would not buy them again.
Whenever the store stops replacing my 280's under warranty, i'll probably get the 7506's.
I have the link to the 280 bass mod at home... i'll post it later. :) |

WEll, my headhones are taped up now. I notice that the noise i hear is from the joints, as opposed to from the band itself.
I've been wearing them every day, for a couple of hours atleast. I take them everywhere i go, and to be honest, despite the best effort to care for them, they still cop a bit of abuse.
I wear them with the band about 4-5 notches out, so i don't need to stretch them much at all as I have a small head (not much brains :p).
SO far, absolutely no signs of problems or damage. IT's been about 4 months now. Most people complain that they start breaking down after 9-12 months, we'll see what happens.
Sony's release of the new V6s doesn't surprise me at all. Those headphones are 20 years old. |

| Looking to get some headphones for $100 and i'm looking at the Sony MDR-7506. My birthday is in two weeks so I have to make up my mind soon. I have read some good stuff on here about them, however i've also read on sites like MusiciansFriend.com from users that they aren't loud enough. I need some loud headphones because the ones I have (Senheiser HD-212s) just aren't loud enough, even when I turn my monitors down...really hard to beatmatch properly with them. I don't want any too loud though, as i've heard the Senheiser HD-25s are dangerously loud, but just something I won't have to turn up to dangerous levels or something that is so loud that even when you turn it up a little bit, it's damaging... |
