SONY MDR-V700DJ - I heard they break often.
PIONEER HDJ-1000 - the same thing + very expensive.
STANTON DJ PRO 3000S - my friend have one pair and they have broken for 2nd time (first on the left, then on the right side)
SENNHEISER HDXXX - I saw here, that some of them break often too + they arent look very cool.
Maybe the Technics are good. Opinions?

ive read through alot of this thread but seeing as the new stanton headphones just came out, theres not much about them. All ive read is that they arent bad which doesnt really mean much to me. Could somebody please post some stuff about them please?

I hear that different headphones are better for different types of music, like Senn. HD280s might not be best for dance (in my case trance)? --280s were what I was thinking of getting.

Is this just speculation or does it matter?

Do you think Sony MDR-V6 would be better? I don't wanna spend over $100 on headphones just yet. What about these new Stantons you guys seem to be talking about?

not neccesarily(sp?)

headphones are headphones and thats about all there is to it, no secrets, no tricks

alot of ppl like the 280s and havnt had probs with them

you might be confused with the idea that different headphones are better for different applications

Ex:
you wouldnt need a $150 set of headphones if you're just listening to your CD player; or in the studio, you wouldnt need the flexibility found in some models like the MDR-V700 or HDJ-1000

it goes just about any way with headphones, there arent really any set pair for a specific situation, whatever floats your boat

i have the V6 and theyre fine other than the fact that they dont swivel... id reccomend them, but for the extra $40 or so that you might pay for the 280s you get the swivel and a slight increase in sound quality

you get what you pay for - if you dont wanna go over $100 my recomendations would be(in no particular order)

-Sony V600 - good build, hasnt broken in a year, headband is flexible enough to suit your needs, good sound, 9ft coiled cord, 3.5mm plug with Screw-on 1/4in adapter, comfy;)

**Stanton DJ Pro 2000s - list price is $150 but if you get it off the internet most places have em for $90, swivel cups, detatchable cord, mono/stereo feature, comes with bag

-Sony 7506 - reportedly the same as the V6 as far as the guts with a different build, ive tried em and they seem somewhat louder/clearer than the V6 - $130 retail, $99 online

*i keep pointing the stanton 2000s out cus ive heard alot of good feedback about them plus, for $90 online you get more than just a pair headphones

Are Sony MDR V600s a good deal for 60USD? I'll spend about 150 for a mixer so dont expect me to spend another 100 on headphones. I'll use them in my bedroom so I don't need the most expensive models on the market. What to you think?

Thanks!;)

I hate to burst your MDR-V600 quest, but I've honestly listened to those Sonys - and strongly disliked them. I've actually heard headphones selling for as little as $20, not to mention other headphones selling for the same price as or higher than the MDR-V600's, that sound much better than the MDR-V600's. The MDR-V600's are not worth anywhere near $60, let alone $100, IMHO; in fact, they should be considered $20 headphones with a highfalutin package, highfalutin claims and a highfalutin price tag.

By the way, the MDR-V600's were intended to replace the old MDR-V6's back in the early 1990s. Unfortunately, the MDR-V600's turned out to be much, much worse than their predecessors in sound quality.

And the MDR-7506's? Well, though they're currently available, they're the same as the MDR-V6's (not the MDR-V600's) with gold plating on their plug tips, a "professional" sticker and a higher price tag.
