Closed is pretty much required for DJing. Open is better for at home listening when you wont have any distractions and there wont be other noises, cause it sounds better.
And why did you limit yourself to just two models? Can you only find those two? Where are you located? Whats your budget? What do you plan on using them for? |

When you are at home doing audiophile style listening in a quiet environment and want it to sound really spacious and more natural, with a less closed in sound. Or when you are riding your bike or walking down the street and want some situational awareness of whats going on around you.
also, if you want more headphone advice, you can always IM me |

| Sony MDR-7506 and doing the job for me. Except they hurt my ears after wearing them for a long time. Does anybody know if I can replace the pads? |

Yes, replace the pads with the Beyerdynamic DT250 Velour pads. |

I'm sure that it's been covered already here. But I will NEVER purchase another pair of Sony MDR-V700DJ's again. In five years, I've gone through three sets of them. Each time, the swivel joint at the cup has split at the seam. I've tried everything to fix/prevent damage. Nothing works without seriously hindering the headphones. Hell, I've even used a combonation of super glue and twist-ties to hold it together. That worked for awhile but I couldn't swivel (or fold for that matter) that cup again. Hand's down these headphones have the best bass response and when both cups are over your ear properly, there's not alot of outside noise. But that only lasts as long as the cups do.
Personally, I'd go with the Sony V-6 Studio Headphones. Great sound, comfortable when worn a long time, and a great price. |
