I run the gearsection in a store, that's right.
And when it comes to 0,1 accuracy, you can mix with that. I agree when you say it's a shame it's not more (e.g. my CJD-800's are 0.05%, which is excellent) but I disagree when you say it's not for mixing. My old PT-2400's (very good decks though) go to 0.1% as well, and in the worst case scenario it falls out of sync in 45 seconds (which is more then enough to finish the mix).
So it might be a pain in the ass mixing with them on 4 decks, sure. But for those "vinyl addicts" that want a CD player for vinyls that are not (yet) released or sold out, this is definetly -the- solution. |

Ofcourse you get that effect if you have 0,1% miss. However, with a pitch that is up to 0,1% accurate, you can miss up to 0,05%! (because if you need to pitch a record up to 0,07%, your miss is only 0,03% and NOT 0,07%!). And with a 0,05% miss, you can mix as long like 45 seconds, which is more then enough.

um, wrong. Thats like the BEST case scenario. This is one thing I am very passionate about...I am so baffled as to why all these big companies are putting out all these expensive cd players with all these useless features and they end up leaving out the most important one. I have a Pioneer CDJ1000 MK2, and that is one of the reasons why I love it....but if American Audio came out with a cd player tomorrow that had a .02% pitch increment, I would have one in a second as a 4th cd deck. Pitch accuracy is by far the most important quality on a cd deck. |

About the first part: If that's what you think... my best case scenario is when it drives in sync all the way down ;)
However it's bull when you say pitch accuracy is the most important thing. I'd rather have a quality laser that passes the focus cd test fine. If a CD player won't swallow your cd's anymore, I really wouldn't give a about pitch accuracy ;). Then comes the necessary feautures (such as instant start, loops)... OK, the loops aren't really important, but you'd be suprised how many CD players don't have instant start. Then comes antishock, and THEN I'd start worrying about pitch accuracy ;) |

all those features you named are a GIVEN on any halfway decent cd player. if you want to be cute about it, then the number 1 quality of a cd player is that the power button works. When looking at cd players, I bet that almost everyone on here will look at how precise the pitch can get first and foremost. The fact that Numark hasn't figured this out yet, is sad. |

Hahahaha, I like your sense of irony :D. Even though the number one turntable in the world (SL-1200) doesn't have a decent powerbutton ;)

The Technics throws in the towel at 1,8mm damage (which is pretty low), some crappy (dual) OEM CD players are terrible in the test and the Pioneers, Denons and Numarks play the disc all the way down (which is excellent).
However, I must agree with your last opinion. The CDX has multiple pitch settings, so it means the fader used for the pitch can be pretty accurate. So I wouldn't see the problem making the CD player more accurate at lower pitchrange, like the Pioneers are.
However I can still mix pretty damn easy with 0,1% accuracy, I've done it for more then 5 years :P.
There are more things Numark hasn't figured out yet. Making good turntables is one thing ;) |

| to whoevers pics those up there are: i have mine set up much like that. but i have serious feedback and the playing stuff being heard in the cued track issues. do you have those kinds of issues and how did/are you correcting them. |
