Just replaced my DJM-600 with a Rane Empath and added an EFX-500.

That black empath is looking sexier each time i see it. Kinda makes me wish i had a black instead of a blue.
How do you like it BTW?
and where did you get the flightcase for it? |

| Empath is one of the best mixers I've ever used and deffintatly better then DJM-600. I got the flightcases at a local store, they are Road Ready. You might be in luck with the black Empath. I heard a rumor that Rane is planning on releasing faceplates as well as an upgraded replacement crossfader for the Empath sometime this year. |

| any info on the upgrade crossfader??? as for faceplate, i still perfer the blue color. |

| What I heard is it will be the same type of crossfader as a current model of TTM 56 comes with. |

Evolution MK-449C, it's pretty nice but a little cheap feeling, but it works well. |

Maybe look into the Novation ReMOTE 49 for your next controller, thats what I'll be getting, heard many good things about them. |

| Yeah I looked into the ReMOTE 25 but it was $300 for 25 keys (the Evolution was $200 for 49 keys), but they do look very nice. |

I have to agree with this point. The channel fader curve is a bit harsh near the top. But I haven't tried playing with the curve settings too much... maybe there is a way to smooth it out more? Regardless, it isn't that big of a deal. I actually like the channel faders for cutting. There isn't much resistance... but they move quickly and smoothly.
The only other complaint I have is the single VU metre for PFL. Mind you, I think it makes me pay more attention to my gains... which I guess isn't a bad thing. :P |

nah u cant adjust the curve, but ive gotten used to it now so its ok.
I actually like to put all the eqs down to 0 when mixing out on a long smooth mix. A lot of mixers you can't do this on as 0 isn't a total kill ;) |
