Most, if not 90+% of these setups aren't geared for spinning for a crowd. More often than not the best place for their setup is in a smaller room of their house/apartment, and it simply wouldn't save space to have it in the middle of a small room as opposed to against the wall. |

Use some pillow cases/bedding sheets if you like to cover your gear when it's NOT in use. The dust is a killer for those channel faders. |
Umm, thats why all DJs should use a rotary mixer :D
But yea, I've never covered my gear and I've had it for over 7 years now. Beer spills, smoke and hours of use and all of it works great. |

Ok well while were almost on the topic. Whats the deal with cases then...
I noticed some people, discobiscuit for example always seem to have thier gear in the cases, how is the ventilation in them? From what ive seen in pictures it looks minimal. However there arent exactly fans to block on my CDJ200s or DXM06, is all gear like that?
Do you use the lids to cover them when not in use?
Im looking into getting a case or some alternative like that, because im tierd of moving them individually around my house/friends houses. |
well i know the manuals all say that you should have them in a venelated area... but there are flight cases... i dont know, i have always had my gear in flight cases and have never had any problems.
if i was a bedroom dj, i would not have my gear in flight cases. i play out 3 times a week, so i depend on flight cases to keep my gear safe... i could take my gear out of the cases at my gigs, but i like to live on the wild side :)
i think the warnings about keeping the gear in venelated areas are like the surgeon general warning on cigarettes. the warning is on the cigarettes so if you die, they arent liable. the warning is on the cdj's, djm, etc because if your equip craps out and is in an area that isnt venelated, they aren't responsible...
lol ok i'm just gonna shut up now... |

Course, hardly anyone dies from smoking related ilnesses. Well made point!! |

|
| i got big pants |
| doesnt most heat come out of the back of equipment anyways? flight cases usually have a pretty decent gap in the rear of the case so it'll let all that excess heat escape |

no criticism on your equipment dude... you take what you get, and if you're good, the equipment shouldn't matter
on the other hand, do you mix in your attic? |

true. i think your mixer is better than my first one. talent, knowledge, and preception is what makes the dj. -not the equipment. |
