lol pretty funny. Personally, im not too fond of the hdj-1000 either. My friend has a pair and personally, i found the sound quality to be a bit boomy w/ muffled highs. And the headband seems to have problems staying together. There good but they just don't sound nearly as transparent as the hd-25. That's just known in the industry. It seems that skratchworx's sound quality listening tests include hearing damage caused by distortion. Not a good judge at all for choosing which sounds better. Also a couple of other tests that Skratchworx have done especially w/ FS2.0, SSL, and the CDX were imo biased and not in depth. I enjoy going to their site, but every review is just a opinion, and should be taken w/ a grain of salt.

I could care less what the hot headphones are according to this fourm and whether or not you think mine are "cool".
off, I love them and you won't change my mind until they break...
But the "crap" here is you're steering people away from buying a good pair of headphones. I want people to make the right choice when they buy headphones.
People have been running around bashing the HDJ1000 for no good reason. Everytime some n00b posts up "what headphones should i buy?" i reccommend the HDJ1000s and in response get, "those are crap". perchance some people may think the hds are better, but in no way are the pioneer's "crap"
And Wraith:
i respect the people on skratchworx and their opinion more than the majority of jackasses that share their opinions on this forum without having any experience with either pair. |

jeez... just chill out...
The reasons why i don't like the hdj-1000s are clear, they broke on us and have been a disapointment after a year or so. My sennheisers broke too, but they seemed to be less of a hastle to get replaced. |

Chill out man. Just because someone speaks ill about them doesn't mean you need to get all wound up and go off on some crusade defending their honor. I think it's entirely reasonable to assume that there are people out there who haven't had the most stellar of experiences with these phones and as such have a very different view of them than you do. On this fact alone I don't think you should get all bent out of shape and assume the have no clue what they're talking about b/c like it or not they're entitled to an opinion on them too. |

I own the HDJ-1000 too. I don't use them at home because I have the music on a moderate level and when using the HDJ-1000 you have to actually turn their volume up to get a 'clear' sound from them. Doing that means I won't hear my monitors good enough. And when having the 1000's on a lower volume, the sound won't be clear enough to hear the actual punch. That's why I still use my sony mdr-v500 at home. And for home use when playing at moderate levels these are just good enough.
When playing out tho I bring along my HDJ-1000. With the sound from the monitors booming at you, you can crank them up and you're good to go.
I have no problems with them as I only need the kick to be clear enough.
To speak for myself, I don't actually need the detailed sound the Senn's have when playing out. I think that at really high volumes it doesn't really matter if it sounds detailed or not. You'll be cranking them up at a point you'll only be hearing the kick thumping through your ears ;).
That being said, the 1000's aren't good for your normal music listening. As said earlier, they just lack good sound. If you're going to do listening mostly, then I think Sennheiser is a better choice.
And now back on topic...post more of those elite setups! :)

Not me, I'm a Vestax fan.:p
Without starting another flame war, I'd just like to point out for the future, that to my knowledge, this test was not conducted by "people who test headphones for a living" It was conducted by one person, BX, a regular at skratchworx.com. He is not a proffessional headphone tester as far as I know, nor was he paid to do that test (although I beleive he got the phones for free)
That said, its an excellent review. |

You gotta remember, headphones are a personal thing, what sounds great to one person might not sound great to another, when it comes to headphones there is no right and wrong, as it comes down to your ears and taste alone, just because an expert headphone user said there the best, doesn't mean there the best for you, think of headphones like movies, just because Ebert & Roeper said that a certain movie is great and awesome, doesn't mean I'm gonna think its awesome aswell, its just about taste, I own the MDR700, hated by alot of people here, I know I can get better sounding headphones, BUT, they work for me and I like them.
now wheres the sweet pics??? |

Yes BRING ON THE PICS!!!!!
Seriously though, like Danny said it all comes down to taste. You know what kinds of phones I have?? Stanton DJ PRO-2000S. Would I have bought these according to what alot of people thought about them around the time I was looking for phones?? Nope b/c everyone said they were e. But I've used them before and swear by them as far as bedroom use goes. I don't know, they might be e if I had to use them while being hammered by a club system (doubtful), but they work awesome for me and what I do with them. |

All i do is air my exeriences and opinions.
I thought they were great at first.
After the 4th (or was it 5th  ) pair in a very short time frame, i posted an objective opinion.
And yes they ARE 'crap'- there is a widely recognised manufacturing fault on a large percentage of the pairs sold. Fact.

Once again, i have owned pretty much all of the dj headphones on the market and used them in a regular professional capacity.
I am more than qualified to comment and share my opinions and also those of my fellow professionals.
If you want to ignore it and take some high and mighty elitest prick attitude, thats your call.
In the same token-dont bash others opinions because you dont agree with them.

Credit is given where credit is due- and vice versa.
If something is - then people have a right to know.
Ditto for something that breaks
and once more, ditto for something that is good.
p.s Off.
Now....can we get back to the pics sil vous plait?
Merci beaucoup. |
