Simple, just testing the equipment out before you buy it or buying some less expensive and simpler stuff starting out, or starting on software. You don't really need a 5 channel mixer or the greatest effector (you almost don't even need one, unless you want to be James Zabiela) or even CDJ 1000 MK2s or MK3s. I bought them, I acknowledge, but I sold a bunch of stuff, had money saved and couldn't decide really. I also had some experience mixing. I just don't think you need all of that for a starter set, even some pros or guys that DJ at clubs don't have that fancy of equipment. I recommend to most people who are just starting out...to get CDJ 200s and an inexpensive 2 or 3 channel mixer, like a Numark DXM-06. That is both good quality, has good resale value and also will last you quite a while. I would have gotten that if I started out a year ago, but I had been mixing since I was 16...of software, and TTs and I wanted vinyl emulation but I also wanted wave display, CD-Text, and a greater number of pitch ranges. No hate, just stating my point of view. It's an awesome set up.. I'm actually kind of jealous...hehe. I'm not arguing about it really, just stating my opinion. |

I don't get why people are going on at him about his set up, I say mad props to him for being able to save it all, even at 1500 a month with no bills would of taken awhle to get the money for that gear.
Maybe he got this gear as he is really into effects and wants to really learn them, well he got the best piece of gear for that, and maybe hes abit of an audiophile, so he got a damn good mixer which also happens to have digital ins for his CDJs keeping the signal cleaner and not converting it as much.
Big thumbs up for kimchis setup.:D |

but the reason im able to buy all this stuff is because i have no bills. still live at home and stuff so all the money i make is for my own personal use. |
I can definitely relate to that. Granted, I don't make nearly as much in a month as you, but it sure is damn nice to use your paycheck as you wish without any major obligations to worry about. Ahh, +1 for disposable income and still living with parents that pick up the bills and whatnot.:D
BTW, you've got some very nice stuff there. |

Haha yeah that's probably it. I'm not really trying to give him a hard time about his set up or saying it sucks (quite the contrary). I'm just stating my own personal point of view. But it's true, I do recommend for people starting out...to get CDJ 200s and a fairly inexpensive mixer. But I like I said I have nothing against Kimchi's set up, it's actually amazing. I just wont be able to afford anything like that other than my luck at getting CDJ 1000 MK2s. Haha he makes $1500 a month, I make barely $600...:(, and I do have bills and other stuff, even though I live with my parents...I pay for much of my stuff by myself, except for groceries and rent (don't have to pay rent as long as i'm in school, and my parents pay for groceries of course). I sometimes have barely enough money for tracks...like right now. |

Just as a small side note on this, you really can't put a price tag on a hobby or interest since the ends will always justify the means if it is something you have a strong passion for. |

That's true. I think i'm just jealous, and maybe if I had more money I wouldn't be this way. If he has a passion for it, fine, i'm happy for him. Maybe I think i've lost my passion...I dunno. I haven't mixed in over a month. |
