| Good info harriz, but I'm wondering: if the master out goes into the redsounds, then ableton, and then back into the mixer, where do the booth speakers go? |

In a bedroom setup you dont have to worry about that.
booth out or mono out into extractor and master out into the speakers.
In a club setup you would have 4 options
-Use the mono out of the xone dj mixer in the redsounds into ableton via a midi in.
-Use 2 Y cables and split the stereo of the booth out from 2 to 4.
2 will go to the booth speakers and 2 will go into redsounds beat extractor.Master or Mix Out will go to the house.
-Use the record out to feed the midi module.
-Use a y cable (rca) that will again split the left and right from your record out into two mono signals for the left and two mono signals for the right.
One pair will go into the extractor while the other will go into your recorder incase you are recording your live set.
The master out will go to the house @ all times. |

The purpose of my post was to help people hook up their computer to their dj mixer.
Because some people (how do I put this nicely...) have a more ''literal'' mind
I will have to explain that the bpm magazine cover + the 10 page article
was ment as an exageration and was not to be taken literally.
Please no more offers for an extractor for a magazine cover with a 10 page article I might as well buy you a helicopter while I am at it coz its just as cheap, Ok? |

PvD uses the Sony MDR-V6 (or 7506, same cans). Great great cans, sound great, sturdy little mofos. Do a search, quite a few people use them and we all swear by them.
Punjabi's look like they are the 7506, the V6 have red stickers. |
WERD!!!
I'm rocking the V6's and I love them.. Hopefully they are still making them if these ever crap out on me.. :stongue: |

Ahh, I forgot about separate booth/house outputs. I need a better mixer, I guess  |

even if your mixer has one output you can split it from 2 to 4 using two Y cables
and use the 2 for the extractor and the other two for the ''mix out'' to your stereo. |

My question is... Did they work? :) |

Well my mixer has two master outs, one is 1/4 and the other is RCA, so that wouldn't be a problem. What might be, however, is that it's only 3 channel (Vestax PCV-275). Is it necessary to have 2 channels on your mixer free for Ableton?
And out of curiosity, the only thing that the RedSounds is sending to Ableton is a signal to run at x tempo correct? Because if it's sending an audio signal into it, and Ableton then goes back into the mixer, it seems like it would get caught in a loop somehow (no pun intended).
I'm sure that it just sends a midi signal... but I though I'd ask anyways to satisfy my curiosity.
I'm intrigued by this little thing, I've already got Ableton going (not on a laptop though, so I couldn't take it with me) and I could really rock out if I could get Ableton going with my decks! |
