Theres a MOTU HD 892 Recording Rack mount around there somewhere you cant see. I need another DZ :(

Is it just me or is your cat overweight?
Alot of TA's have said bad things about the DZ. How do you like it and how long ago did you buy it? |

Its a Pixie Bobcat.. Shes suppose to be big ;)
And I love the DZ... I havent read what issues people here have with it, but from the other forums it was mostly the pitching feature would start to give a digital sound if you went to high on the tempo.
There has been several updates, while not easy to find. And they fixed that bug. Unfortunately it still has a digital degredation to it during scratching with pitch control on.
Otherwise its a solid solid piece of hardware. I have never liked the CDJs by Pioneer, the buttons and jog wheel feel like a fisher price toy. Plus I love the direct drive feature on the technics its more natural to me. Im sure there are people who learned on teh Pioneers so this deck would be awkward to them without more steady vinyl practice. It is more sensitive than an Analog deck though that is for sure.
It feels like a technic deck, I always use the cues and sample features. Some people complain about a wave display... But I for one could give to diddlies about that. Know your records and you can do much more than what a wave display can tell ya hehe.
I have had it for about 8 months now. A DJ/Promoter friend of mine owns two of them and we frequently use them at shows. |

Until two weeks ago, I had been vinyl-only for the past twelve years. It seems to me that the people who buy DZs or Denons do so because they've never touched a record, and assume that that's what it must feel like. |

| Yeah to me the DZ's felt very cheap, especially when compared to the SL-1200's. I definitly think the pioneers are of a higher quality.. though I don't think they're the tanks that the SL-1200's are. |

Pioneers feel more like Vinyl...... Thats the first time I think ive ever heard that...
A plastic somewhat lose jog wheel that doesnt move.. What kind of turntable were YOU using before that LOL. Loose clicky buttons. Shrug, to each his own.
I mean I can respect peoples opinions, but Trog, yours made absolutely no sense to me :P The people I know bought the DZ because it does feel more like a record compared to a stationary jog wheel you push backwards and fowards.
Ive owned both, shrug. So thats where I get teh feel of the cheapness from the Pioneers. Their mixers feel the very same way to me as well. Like Im going to snap off one of their EQ knobs.
I suppose I love metal more than I love plastic too ;)
Oh I gotta throw this in, Denons use a Belt Drive. That feels even worse than the Pioneer. My ranking, DZ, Pioneer, and then somewhere under the rest of the old school CDJs t he Denon. |

| I personally think both the DZ and CDJ-1000 feel like cheap POS's...I just happen to choose the cdj-1000 (two of them actually) |
