Awhile back i posted about my new house a burning because of a kid and his fire bug habits. I have some good news over it and all. Just today earlier in the day the judge in juvenile court found the kid guilty as charge and sentenced the kid 2 years in juvenile hall with 1 year suspended only if he completes classes for it and is in good behavior and 4 years probation once he out juvenile hall. Then at end the judge found parents guilty of not supervising the kid and they where ordered 800 hours community service at a local homeless shelter between the both of em.
This was not the first time it happened so judge wasn't nice to the kid parents or to the kid. After all that on behalf my insurance company they helping me try claim money from the other insurance company that kids parents have. So it is step in right way in terms of the kid getting what he deserved. But the next process will be long drawing out battle between the two insurance carriers. |
good to hear everything worked out for you. |

ive tried both mixers and prefer the sound and setup of the djm800, plus onboard fx saves me an extra 500 and a full channel
what gives with the A&H purists |
I think it's like saying my Lambo owns your Porsche. You're dealing with mixers that are extreme top of the line and as such none of them are anywhere near being crap. This being the case people delineate the two based on experiences and preferences, most of which are subjective.
You mentioned the Xone's lack of onboard effects as a reason for the Pio being the better option. Well, being a Xone owner one of the reasons I bought the mixer is cause I couldn't give a toss about effects. I had onboard effects on my last mixer and barely ever touched it. The big thing that pulled me to the Xone was the sound quality which I prefer over the Pio, but that's just my preference. You see where I'm going here? |

| I've said it before and I'll say it again, it all really comes down to personal preference. I prefer the DJM for the one or two times a year when I feel ADD-ish and spin Hard Techno, but I prefer A&H mixers for when I spin what I usually spin. Debating which mixer is the best is the equivalent of debating vinyl vs. cd vs. mp3. It's pointless. |

I know you can caught up in the whole "keeping up with Mac" thing, but if you bought that macbook within the last 30 days get back to the mac store and ask for a refund. Next tuesday is mac day and they will be announcing new models, which should go on sale within a couple of days of that. |

I was really not interested in keeping up with the latest model. 2.2g Core 2 Duo and 4 gigs of RAM should be enough to work with for a while :p |

I've noticed a lot of people have Mac Books instead of like normal laptops running windows or whatever - just wandering why does everyone choose Mac Books, whats the benefits?
Haven't really looked into the laptops area of DJing much yet. |

As a whole, the hardware is limited to a few variations, and as such, the developers only have to target and maintain a small set of hardware.
A lot of people buy Macs because they (usually) Just Work (TM). Without getting into too much technical detail, Macs as a whole are easier to use and you can't break them as easily.
It can be argued that multimedia stuff is 'made for Macs', but this point is debatable.
But really though, the choice of platform shouldn't matter too much. A Windows notebook and a Macbook should both be sufficient, provided that they are well maintained. That said, some people find Macs easier to maintain, which may be the perceived benefit here. |
