so i cant have like a crazy bolt on cdj stand because i dont want to bolt it down to my furniture...
so i decided to build something to go on top of my dresser. im still working on it.. but i got most of the building done.
pics are in my garage so excuse the mess :)
as you can see i have 3 stands, 2 taller ones where my cdjs will go and the middle one... same size just a bit lower where my mixer will go

as you can see its still a work in progress. the wood is not painted and the metal bars which look nice and polished are covered with blue painters tape because im about to paint the wood black

u can tell the difference in the height here.

these metal things will be sort of "stopers" that will go infront of the stand on top drilled on and polished just as a little more security so if my cdj slides down it wont fall.

looks uneven...
and i hope u plan on painting all that black...
other than that, it looks good.. tho i dont think i would want the mixer so high.. but, its personal preferance... |

The CDJ's don't have samplers.. well i guess they "kinda" do, but its hard to do it on they fly. The reverse mode is really useless, maybe for tricks, but not really to be used with the loop function. Does anybody actually use the reverse mode? | when i make a loop of like half a second..... or less.. just to have a noise...
sometimes i bring up the speed, or lowe it... or reverse it
if that made any sense. |

imagine a ruler... about 4 feet wide..
thats what the piece of metal came as, and i just cut it and made it smooth... and drilled wholes so i can drill itinto the front of the stands. |

Finally got round to 'almost' finishing my home-booth.
Thanks to Tesco selling TV stands for £13 right now, I was finally able to attach them to the wall, and put the 1210's back the right way round.
The 1210's and the 600 are 'Recessed' into the desk (with a name like Recess, they kinda have to be!) and the last thing to do is add in separaters to the lower shelves to hold all the records.
Once that's done, I'll post a couple of better images (this was taken with my SE K750i phone) - but I love it this way. Took a while to build it, but I spent ages 'test driving' it last night, and it's so much more comfortable to use the CDJs that way.
Oh yeah, and I'll fix the wonky poster too...

The setup looks real clean, are you going to keep the table how it is or are you going to paint it?
P.S. The last two songs you mixed on the Techs must have been like 20 BPM apart :p |

I like that a lot, looks like you have a removable piece of wood where the mixer inputs are as well. A nice touch :)
Lovely table..

HA!
Nah, I was cleaning the faders, and that's how they ended up. Well spotted though!
The whole room has a nice clean beech feel to it, and it's really bright as a result - and I think it stands out a lot more with the black of the 1210's and 600 right next to the light beech wood.
The only thing I need to sort out now is some kinda camera mount for filming mixes. You can see the G clamp attached to the right hand speaker stand. This worked well before when everything was laid out flat, but now I've got nowhere to attach it. I guess I'll have to teach the cat how to operate the camera. I'd let him do the DJing, but he keeps on scratching the vinyl. |

Haaha, you noticed that, huh? I was kinda hoping the CD wallet would cover it. It's really hand though, having the access right there, but the real reason (which I'm sure you know) is that if you've got 20mm thickness of wood, it doesn't sit properly over the RCA plugs. Rather than getting a router and grinding out a 2 inch groove that would seat it well enough, I figured it was good to have access, just in case I want to change anything round.
And I don't have a router...
:stongue:
Glad you like it though, took a lot of time, swearing and blood to get it right. Like I said, I'll post up some higher quality pics when it's 100% finished. |
