whats the deal then? so your saying that unless you can prove that you bought the vinyl, then i have to by-law keep it? thing is the old bill isnt gonna come knocking on my door are they, lets be honest at the end of the day. i thought you wernt aloud to play the music 'out' as in a club? but for bedroom use surely this doesnt matter. |
Well, it's not so much that you bought it, it's that when you sell it, you are transferring ownership of that copy to another person. By ripping it to your computer, you are retaining ownership (in the form of wavs) while giving another person their own individual copy (in the form of your records). So now two people have the music instead of one.
So yeah... by law, it's illegial, but it's not really breaking anyones balls if you do it. |

so what's the plan then? never buy a single track in your life anymore because everything can be downloaded?! if that's what you're getting serato for, then all i have to say is: :o :o :o |

yeh good shout mate, but to be honest with you the good £2500+ money ive spent on vinyl alone in the past 2 years towards the music industry im hardly gonna download my music, unlike some people on this board i pay for the music that i spin! the reason im getting serato is yeh vinyl is too god dam expensive, but there is a cheaper way to get music, from the likes of beatport etc. which im sure your well aware of.
i dont have to argue my reason, im fully aware of p2p software, but it aint my game, i support the scene that i love, enough said.

My setup in my Apartment, playing for the wall...

2 x CDJ 800
1 x Allen & Heath Xone 62
1 x Pioneer EFX 500
1 x Pioneer HDJ 1000
Power Mac G4 w/ dual 1.0 Ghz processors and 1024MB Ram
Not pictured: Various, semi-cheap (mostly M-Audio) MIDI controllers, that I'm still trying to get used to and working properly... :(
Adding another CDJ (Got addicted to having 3 to play with when I stayed with Myra over break!), Alesis Monitors, and a KP2 in the next couple months... :) |

What gave it away? Was it the bag of jolly ranchers? the cherry coke? the water bottle? the textbooks? the mp3 player manuals? the 4 spools of cd-rs? the stacks of jen lasher/baby anne flyers? the pile of clothes on the tables? the stack of contracts/brochures? or just a hunch?
my careful framing also cuts out another massive pile of dirty clothes, a bag of cheesy popcorn, a tub of cookies kim made me :D, more textbooks, and a guitar amp.
i dont get out much ;) |

that's good to hear!
BUT if you're ripping your vinyl and then selling it it's essentially the same than if you just went and downloaded everything from p2p in the first place. |
