His name is Abbadon. He was the man who assembled the team of people for Widmore to goto the island (Naomi, Faraday, Charlotte, Lapidus, Miles).
He also visited Hurley at Santa Rosa and asked him about the people who were still on the island. |

Matthew Abaddon:
A fierce and ruthless corporate recruiter who appears intimidating. Abaddon first appears in the flash forward in "The Beginning of the End". He visits Hurley in the mental hospital where he tries to learn from Hurley if the other survivors are still alive. He abruptly leaves when Hurley becomes agitated. He returns in a flashback talking to Naomi about the crew he has assembled for her in "Confirmed Dead". He appears to be in charge of the freighter's operations on the Island and recruited all the people on Naomi's freighter, including Miles, Daniel, Charlotte, and Frank. He and Naomi also seem to imply that they are either not convinced by the finding of Oceanic 815 or they themselves planted the fake plane. He apparently works for Charles Widmore since Widmore is financing the freighter and is the main person trying to find the Island. In the flashback of Cabin Fever Abaddon poses as an orderly in a rehabilitation clinic for John Locke after he is paralyzed. He gives Locke hope and advises him to go on a walkabout to find himself. |

| yeah that richard guy never ages. i think it has to do with the island.. like a time paradox or something which is why in ben flashforward he asked some lady what year it was. like when you go from the island and back the date and time is always different hence why he doesnt age. and with the boat people to. how the doctor is still alive on the boat but dead on the island |

I'm not entirely sure that Richard guy is any different from Ben. There was an hint once on a conversation between them, with Ben saying: "do you remember when we used to celebrate birthdays, Richard?". But it is interesting how the writers have always presented him at this current age, while we have seen a young Ben (who actually meets Richard at one point).
My guess is that they're both time-travellers. And let's add Widmore to the list of time-travellers, as he too seems to have a very clear idea of what can happen in the future (the detailed instructions to the freighter people, all that stuff about "protocols" and "rules" that Ben confronted him with in the previous episode). |

The doctor reached the island first because the island is in some kind of weird time bubble. That was the experiment Faraday was doing. We know that time outside the island bubble does not equal time inside. |

The quote was actually "You do remember birthdays, don't you Richard?" I think this was just a nod to the fact that the Purge took place on Ben's birthday.
Richard either doesn't age because of some mysterious properties of the island, or he time travels. People seem to believe that the DHARMA Orchid Station is some sort of time travel experiment. |

Nah, he said that as a nod to the fact that Richard hasnt HAD a birthday in a very long time. |

| I think he time travels. While the island definitely alters time, I dont think its enough of an effect so that he can show up like 40 years ago and looks exactly the same every time. |

Well, the island has already been shown to have regenerative/curative properties. Perhaps living on it all your life significantly slows the aging process as well. It's not much of a stretch. |
