oh yeah I thought Suvarov looked familiar.
Pretty good episode, they answered the big question about the button meaning that Henry probably didnt press the button like he said.
edit: what happened on the scenes for next week? anything interesting? my dvr didnt record the last few minutes and abc.com doesnt show it. |

actually the button question wasn't really solved. didn't you watch the end? eko convinces locke he should keep pressing the button because he should follow his faith. Also everything henry has said has been a lie. henry has only said things to cause trouble. so by him telling locke he didn't press the button and not to press it that would mean they should do the opposite. |

Yeah I didnt really get that but I still think the button is worthless. But did you see that there was some of the tape missing? And I wonder why they didnt say in the tape why they were doing that experiment.
Not everything Henry said was a lie. He said that the others would trade for him, although it wasnt exactly like he said. And I think he would tell Locke the truth since apparently he was the one they were looking for. |

The most important thing to notice this episode I think is that they are on an island where all their pre-existing conceptions of what is rational are thrown out the window.
95% of the time everyone dissmisses that realization and acts as if they are on a normal island in their old idea of reality.
Echo and John are the two people who are most in tune with the unreality (ex. his brother's plane being there is a piece of evidence he can't rationalize with normal reality), and therefore they are the two people who are looking for new rules of the universe that would explain the island.
Here we learn that the button doesn't do anything within the context of normal reality.
Echo's point then is not to worry about what the button does in a rational world because they aren't in one. |
