nah, he was saying that the split happened at the turbulence. matthew fox said on jimmy that there's religions that believe before moving on, you have to remember your past and all the people that you loved.
that was the flash-sideways. there was no "time" since everyone was already dead, everything in the flash-sideways happened at the same time as everything else in the real world. thus, how they could remember everything after death. |

read my post again. I agree that the flash sideways was the sort of purgatory where everyone remembered and let go. The disagreement is whether the Island past was "real" or not. |

Farewell Lost and this thread. It was a fun ride and satisfying ending. It is said our emotions outlast our memory. Years from now, when I no longer can remember all the connections, details, and unanswered questions, I will not forget the journey. |

| I find it incredible how they managed to pull off an emotional character-driven finale that basically made all unanswered mythological questions seem a bit ridiculous in hindsight. If there ever was a satisfying cop-out, this was one. |

| The alternate timeline was showing what they all wanted to do with their lives, if given the chance. Jack wanted to help Locke, Sawyer always wanted to find and bring to justice the one who killed his parents, so he was a cop. Juliet wanted to save the babies that died on the island, so it was appropriate that she did Sun's sonogram and delivered the news that the baby was perfect. It's kind of like a catharsis for all of them, you know? I think it enabled them to move on... |

| most amazing finale ive ever seen. the statue was explained perfectly in this episode, that is all i'll say. it was just perfect, one episode explained the entire show in 2.5 hours. it was just ing beautiful. i had 2 tickets to the finale party at the orpheum, i wish i went there, but watching it at home changed nothing. it was just wonderful |

It took me a bit to figure out if I liked it or not, but in the end I think I really loved this and I'll definitely need to watch both the episode and the entire show all over again.
Part of me feels that I would have rather they didn't do any of the flash-sideways stuff and had instead simply focused more on explaining back story and other mysteries, but the end scene was so fantastic that I'll excuse them.
And in the end, yeah, it doesn't really matter what the answers were to all the other things. The show was about the characters, their relationships, their faults, their strengths, their love for each other, and their redemption. It wasn't about who built a statue or a random series of numbers, it was about these people.
Fantastic ending to an excellent show. Definitely going to miss it, and definitely looking forward to picking up the deluxe collectors :) |

| I wasn't as blown away as some here were, but then again, my interest had been waning for a while now. I will say though, while I had noticed before, Terry O'Quinn (John Locke) really shone through as an excellent actor to me in this episode... even if he had so many wrinkles that the pic at the top of this page is well deserved :haha: |
