i don't think they are "new others"... the temple was mentioned a lot of times previously as if it were a trusted safe haven for them. my guess is that fountain is simply what keeps the others alive for so long.
as for the non-crash world, my tentative theory is that the universe split in 2 at the point juliet smashes the bomb - one where it goes off and sinks the island underwater, another where the rock never detonates it and jack et all get killed either by dharma immediately after, or ben's purge. the island's original timeline WAS shaped by the losties in dharma, as confirmed by them being in that old photo found by sun/ben last season... they obviously were in the same circumstances in that photo and would have planned to nuke but it must have failed (unless theres a THIRD universe where the losties go the 70s, join dharma, but don't attempt the nuke, which would be ultra lame)
kind of annoyed that there was no correlation in narrative between the main story and the bizarro world, as there traditionally have been. still very glad they didn't drop those versions of the characters on the island and make them start over again obliviously.. that would have been frustrating as . was worried about that for a sec when jack woke up after the nuke and said "where are we?" i hope the next episodes make me give a about the non-crash cast - i don't care if kate gets arrested again or anything, just want to get to the part where it somehow provides perspective to the universe we know already.
overall i like the stage that has been set for the season - but ultimately i think it will fall to the same fate as the matrix sequels, where the viewers will end up realizing their elaborate theories are much more interesting than how the story actually ends. |

I only wish he crushed his windpipe there. God I hate Jack more and more with every episode since the beginning. |

My thoughts are that we are being intentionally misled into thinking that the apparent parallel universe we are seeing is both:
a) a parallel universe
b) caused by Daniel Faraday's plan, executed by Jack and Co.
I think this is the setup for a big twist. ;) |
