Well, with the details we've been given on these first 3 episodes the logical conclusion seems to be that Eloise Hawking is Daniel Faraday's mother. The final hint was given on last night's episode when Widmore tells Desmond that Faraday's mother is in L.A. Right where Miss Hawking is helping Ben ;)
So unless the writers were deliberately taking us in this direction only to reveal an even bigger plot twist, I'm positive that Miss Hawking is Ellie from the island and is Daniel's mom.
Oh, and this episode pwned hard. 30 minutes in I realized I didn't give two s about what was happening with the O6. Now THAT is what good writing does ;) |

Another interesting tidbit, don't know how many of you caught on:
We know the following things:
1) A Hydrogen Bomb, when detonated has a radioactive fallout and releases electromagnetism.
2) We have an underground hatch where electromagnetism related phenomena occur.
3) At one point in the show (Season Two's "Everybody Hates Hugo") Sayid and Jack are having a conversation regarding an area behind a wall and underneath the hatch (where the electromagnetism seems to be coming from) and Sayid comments that the last time he had seen so much concrete poured over everything was, interestingly enough: Chernobyl.
4) We have knowledge of pregnant women experiencing problems conceiving in the island and none of them being able to give birth in quite a long time. Interestingly enough, one of the many things exposure to radiation may cause.
5) On Season Four's "The Constant", Desmond experiences some of the side effects of leaving the island. When they talk to Faraday from the freighter he asks if Desmond has been exposed to high levels of radiation or electromagnetism. Since we all know he spent three years of his life pushing a button inside the hatch, we know the answer to that question.
6) Yesterday we saw Faraday tell "Ellie" that they have to seal the leak in the bomb with lead, bury it, and pour concrete over it.
I'm not sure of how they will tie all of this together and how it will work out in the end. But there's enough indications (some dating to as early as Season Two) of where this part of the plot is heading.
There is a very interesting article I that someone posted at another forum, check it out:
| quote: | From wikipedia:
1954: March 1 - U.S. officials announce that a hydrogen bomb test has been conducted on Bikini Atoll in the Pacific Ocean
Bikini Atoll
Bikini Island is the northeastern most and largest island of Bikini Atoll. It is the best-known and most important island of the atoll, and measures about four kilometres. About twelve kilometres to the northwest is Aomen, the first island in that direction, and to the south of Bikini is Bukonfuaaku.
Bikini Island is well-known for being the subject of nuclear bomb tests, and because the bikini swimsuit was named after the island in 1946. The two piece swimsuit was introduced within days of the first nuclear test on the atoll, and the name of the island was in the news.[1] Introduced just weeks after the one-piece "Atome" was widely advertised as the "smallest bathing suit in the world", it was said that the bikini "split the atome".[2]
Between 1946 and 1958, twenty-three nuclear devices were detonated at Bikini Atoll. The March 1st, 1954 detonation codenamed Castle Bravo, was the first test of a practical hydrogen bomb. The largest nuclear explosion ever set off by the United States, it was much more powerful than predicted, and created widespread radioactive contamination.[3] Among those contaminated were the 23 crewmembers of the Japanese fishing boat Lucky Dragon 5. The ensuing scandal in Japan was enormous, and ended up inspiring the 1954 film Godzilla, in which the 1954 U.S. nuclear test awakens and mutates the monster, who then attacks Japan before finally being vanquished by Japanese ingenuity.
The Micronesian inhabitants, who numbered about 200 before the United States relocated them after World War II, ate fish, shellfish, bananas, and coconuts. A large majority of the Bikinians were moved to a single island named Kili as part of their temporary homestead, but remain until today and receive compensation from the United States for their survival.[4]
In 1968 the United States declared Bikini habitable and started bringing a small group of Bikinians back to their homes in the early 1970s as a test. In 1978, however, the islanders were removed again when strontium-90 in their bodies reached dangerous levels after a French team of scientists did additional tests on the island.[5] It was not uncommon for women to experience faulty pregnancies, miscarriages, stillbirths and damage to their offspring as a result of the nuclear testing on Bikini.[6] The United States provided $150 million as a settlement for damages caused by the nuclear testing program.[7]
The clean-up operation scraped off the top 16 inches (410 mm) of soil from the main island of Bikini, generating a million cubic feet of radioactive soil that could not be disposed of, at a cost that far exceeded the compensation award. |

[18:15:13] [Antz1916] and you know the hatch
[18:15:26] [Antz1916] thats where they buried the H bomb
[18:16:00] [Antz1916] im not sure about the 108 minuits tho
[18:16:09] [Antz1916] i think maybe the bomb is contained inside its own time loop
[18:16:17] [Antz1916] and the button is to send it back or forward
[18:17:54] [Antz1916] the only thing that still confuses me

[18:19:20] [Antz1916] turned the dial
[18:19:23] [Antz1916] it started the loop
[18:19:36] [Antz1916] so it must have happend before in order for the polar bear to get there
[18:20:09] [Antz1916] so whats stopping the loop
[18:20:14] [Antz1916] the button desmond was to push?

Cool :stongue:
The part about Ben doesn't add up though...we've seen Ben being born to a woman named Emily outside of Portland. And she really didn't look like Alex at all.
Could be possible, but I really hope the writers don't take this direction. |
