Do you believe there is a U.S. government cover-up surrounding 9/11? (pg. 326)

:stongue: yeah, that's pretty accurate actually! its my #1 fave thing about speculative fiction. |

i lovvvved reading the chronicles of narnia! i always wanted to buy the set :p .. i felt like such a newb when it came out on movie & i was secretly excited haha. :tongue2 |
I was more than secretly excited that they were releasing The Golden Compass as a film... and that was an epic fail. :(
And now Disney canned the rest of the series, so it will likely never be done properly! Especially considering the complexity of the last one. It was such an interesting series though, despite the blatant casting of the Catholic Church as mafiosa for God and the insinuation that the Devil is simply an angel doing God's dirty work in a different dimension.
Pullman is an interesting author - I want to bump the old His Dark Materials thread, but RJT won't be there to debate the philosophy behind it anymore. :( |

word. films usually up the book.
...disney... fffft.. ffffffftttt!
yeah, i know what you mean with the God/devil thing going on- but i think that's crucial FOR the book.. its part of the symbolism.. do you think the book would be the same without it? |

| No, it definitely wouldn't. The best part about the book, to me, was the way it turned pre-conceptions about the order of the universe on its head, and how the only one who could see through the veiled nature of good and bad seemed to be Lyra, simply because she was precocious and naive enough to abandon those preconceptions. |

| well you see, that's just a different aspect of the book imo :o |

I'm not much older than her, so I don't feel terribly weird saying this, but you could tell from the first movie that she was going to be hot as hell. |

Did you hear about the fans who made a complete sequel to Chrono Trigger using the original graphics engine? Some dude and a few friends have been working on it for years and when it was 99% complete they received a cease and desist court order from Square..so they can't publish it. Supposedly a the rom has been leaked on the web though, so if you're a fan of CT, get looking. You can buy a cheap PS2/USB or SNES/USB adapter on Ebay to play it old school on your PC. ;) |
I didnt know about this. FFS getting lawyers sent after you so late in the game is a really low blow. Indeed i must seek out this rom if it has indeed leaked. As for playing it, i prefer to keep my snes game with me everywhere i go so i can play them any time i want. SO if i do find it i will play it on my mobile . Not retro, but much more convenient :)
Also in the last few pages this thread has gone from fail to win. Harry Potter ftw :D And i have to agree, the books get really good after 3, with no 5 being my favourite. Its the weasleys escape from hogwarts under umbridges nose...that alone makes it work the read :D
EDIT:
Crap, it seems that CT:CE leak wasnt the 98% beta as people assumed but at least a half year old alpa with several bugs and a serious lack of content. Ah well, i found it, so i may at least give it a try. |

For me, nothing beats the end of Book 6. When Dumbledore freezes Harry? I've said too much.
Can't wait to see how it pans out on film. I wish they'd bring back Alfonso Cuaron to direct though - could you imagine all seven films in the style number 3 was shot? |
