The ultimate Israel - Palestine Thread (it's all here) (pg. 43)

Palestinian
I really dislike it when non-Arabs claim to understand Arab culture. Palestinians are culturally different than other Arabs, including Jordanians to your surprise. Yes, there exists a pan-Arab culture but there also exists different cultures within that broad culture. You probably wouldn't guess that I cannot understand a Jordanian when s/he speaks in their pure dialect. Moreover, asking the Arab states to take in the Palestinian refugees for good ignores the national aspirations and the injustices committed upon them. They dream of the day they return to their homes. It also ignores international law, but I have to remind myself that most Israeli-supporters don't believe in international law.

On another note, Abu Mazen is going to win tomorrow. I would have voted for Mustafa Barghouti, I met him last year and was very impressed with his work and dedication. It's too bad Palestinians are basing their vote on allegiance (most are Fatah loyalists and members). The suffering of occupation and apartheid and Israel's response to the Intifada has clouded the people's judgement. They are sick of war and just want to get whatever they can, and since the US and Israel want Abu Mazen, they will vote for him to get it over with. This was my family's attitude in Gaza, but that was before I gave them a lecture over the phone.

I predict that there will be a revival of Barak's "generous offer" at Camp David and Abu Mazen will accept it. At that point the zionists will be assured that Arafat was the obstacle afterall and we will have a bantustan piece of state. Why? Because people just want to settle down and live their lives, and to hell with our rights.

And by the way, Abu Mazen is one of those involved in corruption, along with Mohammed Dahlan. So if I hear another word or complaint about corruption from a Palestinian I'll punch em in the face.

Not to undermine the importance of the Olympics, but the US is NOT the best at Education, providing Healthcare, Quality of life, and a few other minor aspects. They are kicking the rest of the world's ass in gun murder rates tho.
