In all fairness you have no way of knowing this was done on purpose, there is plenty in the article to give you reasonable doubt to this being an accedent:

hmm... curfews ... firefights .... not the most safe place to be around, dont you think?
i'm sure you're imagination could think of several scenarios where this may have happened by mistake.
furthermore this is plainly a he said they said incident. I want to know what the IDF and the soldiers prospective was on this before laying judgment.
