isn't it the opposite?? I think for most people its INSECURITY which makes them constantly worry if they look good... When most people find a partner, they BECOME secure, and no longer need to worry about superficialities, since their connection with the other has replaced shallow affections with real love, or at least that's how they feel :) |
My thoughts, to a large extent.
Edit: And I'm not going to edit your post now that I quoted you! :toothless |

Also, you tend to become a bit more comfortable once you've got a fixed partner. |
Sooo, comfortable = being fat/unfit and lazy? Because that sure as hell doesn't make me feel comfortable.
I think that's a really horrible copout. No wonder so many people have ty relationships, because just like so many other areas in life people don't want to put continual effort into anything.
I bet all people who say the spark is gone from their relationship are fat and/or gross slobs. |

short version: people become secure and don't need to worry about their physical appearance when they get in a comfy relationship most of the time, it's security, not insecurity making people get fat-- |
I disagree - these very same people likely have low self-esteem in the first place, and so resort to comfort-eating to make up for even their latent relationship stress. Insecurity rears its head worst when people are supposedly in "secure" relationships. Bitches be crazy, but at least the fat ones have a leg to fall back on, even if it's a hollow one, at that. :o |

No. Being comfortable = not being so concerned about your looks.
By the way, just before we discuss this any further, I work out pretty much every day. However, this is not something I do for my fiancée — this is something I do for myself (being a narcissist and whatnot ;)), so I'm not talking necessarily from experience here.
However, I can't see how dating a fat person could possibly be an indicator that the relationship is going bad or that "the spark is gone from the relationship": if a person is fit or fat matters very little in the long run. Should it be otherwise, imagine how dreadful the relationship between older adults must be like...
"OMG, her breasts are sagging and my skin is flaccid. We're no longer apexes of human hotness, halp!"
Edit: Why do you care if other people are fat or not? If Jimmy is the way you want, and other people don't mind how obese their partners are, why bother? |

| Local package store gives out free sample Friday evenings. Tonight was Irish single malt whiskey. Wow never had it before and didn't think I'd like. Man was I wrong. First time I can remember being able to sip and enjoy hard liquor. Sales man tried to close the deal but it was $49 (after $10 sale), that I didn't even bother trying the other bottles which were $79. |

Yeah, 100% total copout. You might buy into that bull, but I don't. Looks ARE a reflection of how a person feels about themselves. When I see a person who looks all slovenly and unkempt, or just not as well kept as they used to be - to me that says they don't care as much about themselves, not that they're "comfortable and happy". Lol give me a break.
And fat people are a pox on society. |

Why are fat people a pox on society? :conf:
And being in the field of medicine surely you understand that not all people are fat out of laziness? |
|

Yes of course I understand that. Victim blaming, etc. I still hate the majority of fat people. Mostly because they are a visual representation of people unwilling to be responsible and accountable, etc.
But yes, I know there are exceptions. |

| For the record I use the term 'fat' quite loosely. I don't always mean morbidly obese when I say that. Which are the kind of fat s that I hate the most. |

I also use the term 'hate' loosely too. I don't really hate fat people. But damn near close.
Anyway, you all sound a little defensive. Dating a fatty? Have one in the family or something? |
