Yeah, I hear the atmosphere and people are great. I'm going to Melt, which is supposed to be full of rude, sullen hipsters. I'm sure I'll still have fun.
Don't forget your scarf!
Also at Fusion they have built so many cool things all around the area. At dusk especially it's really really trippy to walk around, even if you aren't on anything (but it helps :p) and half the people are dressed like they have escaped from a carnivale haha.

Okay, I suppose. The first time I was quite drunk and don't remember a great deal. The second time, the sound system was poorly balanced (unusual for this city) and negatively affected my enjoyment. I wasn't particularly impressed with his DJing though. I'm not averse to DJs rapidly changing tempo or even stopping the music and starting at a completely new speed. However, he seemed to with it endlessly. There were plenty of times when there were long sections of extremely audible slowing or speeding of the record. That said, he's young and I'm sure he'll start to improve. I'll be seeing him again in a couple of weeks. Will report back after that.

Yeah, the vibe seems to be a lot more hippy-oriented, which is more my thing than these big commercial festivals. My favourite festival in Australia is Rainbow Serpent: http://www.rainbowserpent.net/
It's as you described; everyone gets dressed in funny clothes (one guy has this huge Lego man outfit, for instance) and they have heaps of interesting decorations. One year there was this massive laser grid projected onto a hill a kilometre or so away, and we spent the whole night debating whether it was real or just a trick of our collective intoxication.
I probably would have myself at every act in that festival. I need to try and make it out there for 2012!! I think Principles of Flight played a set at Rainbow Serpent and it was totally killer.

If you do genuinely get there, give me a bell and you can tag along with us.

Awesomess. Those music acts are just great! Sphongle, Hallucinogen, Atmos etc.
Would be really cool to go there, but it's very far away and would be quite pricey.

My last semester of college, I met someone who could possibly have been a long-term friend if I hadn't been on my way out of the state. We shared some interests, notably music production. But we never talked after I graduated, so today I Googled her name just to see what she was up to.
First result says, "[Name] dies in car accident."
