UK was good like that, they had a place for everyone when it came to clubs and for the most part where really easy going. |
You know what would make London perfect? More neon lights and vending machines! I'd get goosebumps just by walking through the commercial district in Nagoya when I had some drum'n'bass blasting in my earbuds. London had some good music playing all the time but no neon lights to go with it :( |

I never liked London. Despite it's lack of neon :p |

Why? It reminded me quite a lot of São Paulo, but cleaner. And São Paulo is my second favourite city here in Brazil... is Brisbane more awesome? |

It isn't Japan or the US, there is a bit of neon here and there but its not done to the crass extent that the other two have done in places, quite a lot of Europe is like that.
Hard to explain really, you have to live there to understand why and not because they're a bunch of dour, miseryguts, whiners which some of them come across as. I think at its most simple generalisation, the English dislike over the top crassness being shoved in their face... and much less by an outsider. |

| You softies. If you're going to drink Red Bull and vodka, then head down to your nearest Chinese shop and buy Red Bull Concentrate. A can or two of those with a bottle of vodka and you'll be doing happy laps around the equator. |

Wait, wait, could you elaborate on this? I'm not really following you. |

It's just down to personal preferences, I think. Brisbane is NOT a city that I would compare to London, at all.
I find it interesting that you considered London clean. I found it filthy :wtf: And massively polluted (walking around for a day in London, coming home, blowing your nose, and getting BLACK SNOT is not cool in any way). But, that's because I'm not used to it, probably. Maybe the locals are just chill with that kind of thing. Ugh :wtf:
Aside from that, I disliked the usual 'big city' stuff. Cold people, busy busy busy, no time to stop and smell the roses, so to speak. Expensive as hell, too. On the other hand, when they DO have a moment of spare time, there are sooooo many cool things that can be done. If it can be afforded.
I really like that it's laid back here :) I'm a very chilled person, and it fits me well. |

You softie! if you're going to drink Red Bull Concentrate, gulp it down with coffee and guaraná! You'll be like doing happy laps around St. Peter's gate in Heaven! |

If you ever visit São Paulo, you'll understand what I mean. Cubatão, a neighoubring city, was our Swansea during the 90's — I'm surprised either city isn't among the most polluted places on Earth any more!

Oh, I happen to like that. I live in a "big town" with a cosmopolitan twist, it's really bizarre. It's like a small town with two million inhabitants that, in average, look more sophisticated than everyone around us. |

England is England, it isn't America or Japan, trying to make it like America or Japan is something of an attack on the national identity of the people living there and they will resist it vehemently.
Now, they might adopt bits and pieces of other culture in small doses, they will even travel to some places to go see something different, but they won't willingly allow it at home to the extent that it looks like Las Vegas or Nagoya.
There's all kinds of weird things like that about the British psyche which doesn't really get talked about, it just sort of 'is' |
