| The time I spent playing runescape when I was younger makes me feel sick. I was such a nerd until I had like 3 friends. My life went uphill from there xD |

I thought it was funny too-- The fact that its embarassing is where the hilarity is-- People not getting that are obviously just crippled by embarassment in their day to day lives-- I personally find embarassment hilarious :D |
Ok, Mister Slychologist.
btw, it's embarrassed.
The point is, in the story, the adults did not appear to be embarrassed by the child's embarrassing actions. Embarrassment should cause nervous laughter if any at all, mortification, apology, or even some anger with the child. There was no mention of apology or any of this. The adults, typical of the parents of generation entitlement, simply laugh with the child, in a carefree, "oh those hilarious kids!" / "My kid can never do wrong" kind of way, without letting the child know that the behavior, while natural and acceptable, is ultimately reprehensible. Kids understand their behavior through their parents' reactions. Parents just don't know how to tell kids 'No' anymore, which is why they all grow up to be such ing twats.
It's not OK to be rude, nor is it funny, except to people who enjoy belittlement and humiliation.
Ultimately it's a funny situation in theory, but it would be funny to me only if the adults expressed genuine embarrassment.. which provokes the feeling "OMG i know how embarrassing that can be". Instead, because their reaction was more "OMG the kid is right look at that weird looking person" / "LOL Kids say what we all want to say but can't", it's not funny at all, but cringeworthy, IMO. |

That isn't what happened at all... it was a sudden realization that she innocently said something inappropriate. They weren't like out in the hallway like HAHA YOU ARE A MIDGET. I think the story just doesn't translate well into text though, because I can see where you'd gather that she was laughing at him in the hallway.
But, anyways.... Jenny already said I won this thread. |

1. why would he have told the story if it wasn't embarassing? That was the point of the story. If it was a normal occurence, nothing to be ashamed about, why talk about it???
2. The hook of the story was desperately TRYING to set a good example, and discipline the child, who had gotten out of hand.
3. you don't have kids. I don't disagree, but how dare you and pie challenge the parenting techniques of someone from ONE instance, when all you're doing is blowing a stupid, and (meant to be) humurous story way out of proportion.
4. were you there?? How do you know how they felt? Because they laughed they didn't feel embarrassed? Look up nervous reactions ffs, not everybody blushes or faints in awkward situations, laughter is a completely natural, and relatively common response.
he NEVER said that they supported what the child did. The whole point of it was that its entirely embarrassing, and that they were trying to set a good example! |

| The story wasn't funny though. It came off as juvenile and stupid. |
