I am on the ing BRINK of securing myself a sick paid internship for the entire summer and am stuck being the third party between my school and the place of work because the stupid bitch secretary has no idea what she is doing.
I pretty much drawing up my own contract, faxing it to the school, getting them to sign it, signing it myself, and then faxing it to the place of work.
All by myself, without much knowledge of policies and coverage and other things to consider with a contract of this nature.
Part of me feels kickass for taking the initiative and taking my professional life into my own hands, and the other part of me is ing annoyed at stupid people who don't know how to do their job. |

The Empire Builder is one of the most beautiful trips you can take on rail in the US.
It starts out in two places, Seattle and Portland.
If you take it from Portland it travels up the Columbia River Gorge on the Washington side, which is a spectacular area with huge high cliffs and the river. It then begins to travel north along the plateaus and river, and then cuts up to Spokane.
If you leave Seattle it heads north along Puget Sound to Everett before it turns east and heads up into the Cascades, where it travels along forest lined mountain sides till it reaches one of the longest rail tunnels in North America, the Cascade Tunnel, which is nearly 8 miles straight under a mountain peak. From the other side it travels down the mountains into the Wenatchee river valley where it cuts through orchards and small farms before it also reaches the plateaus region and heads east into Spokane as well.
In Spokane both trains are joined into one and head off towards Chicago, crossing the Bitterroots in Idaho and crossing the continental divide in Glacier National Park. It travels across eastern Montana and the Dakotas and down into Chicago for its eastern terminus.
I'd like to ride it all the way. It is a 48 hour trip though, and I'd want a roomette for that. From Seattle to Wenatchee it is only 4 hours, but it is the best looking part. :p |

it's all good i think. i usually tend to assume that letters to professors are typically semi-formal, unless you're discussing srs bsns. the contractions are fine- you come off as personable and friendly in that letter, which is how you should sound in this particular situation imo. |
I just saw your reply. Thanks, Nate, I'm nao sending teh letter :) |

Today my fiancée and I celebrate our 76 month together... and I'm here, reading data from native languages half a world away from her.
God, sometimes I feel so pathetic I want to bang my head against the wall and just hope my neighbour is in the shower :( |

Congratulations on your anniversary, Lira :) My fiance and I will have been together for 7 years next month.
You just have to be patient. Your time apart won't be forever. How much longer, out of curiosity? |
