As long as you don't look like a bodybuilder (chick or guy), good job.

No offence, but eww.

Here's my workout:

4 miles running + 6 miles on bike = 10 miles of exercise

I'm just looking for my abs somewhere. I can't seem to get any definition?
Reactic
so I've started again to workout! here's a pic for you:

I don't know exactly how long I workout for this but I think aroung 3 months or so. then I stopped for about 6 months.

as you see I was able to build up mass from only workout at home. I try to workout every second day and the only items that I use are barbells. workout takes about 2 hours, before that I do running for about 30 min to warm up and after the exercises I take one protein shake. I workout only the upper part of my body.

and here is my question: as I have said I've started workout again, but now I have decided not to do anymore 4x12 but instead of this 4x8, but of course with bigger barbells. so what provides a better effect?

Well it depends on what your goals are......if you are trying to build more mass, lower reps are generally better that.

One suggestion though, if you ARE trying to build more mass, I would suggest NOT running for 30 minutes before each workout and just doing a light 5 - 7 minute run. Just enough to break a sweat and get your heart rate up. To build mass, you should conserve all your energy for the weightlifting portion of your routine. Running for 30 min after your workout would be fine.

And lastly, even though you look relatively young and you probably have tons of energy, you should try and limit your workout to about an hour to and hour and a half. 2 hours is a long time to spend lifting weights. In the case of weights, you should focus on quality, not quantity.

And protien shakes after exercise are great but, also make sure you are taking in a small amount of simple sugars, like a piece of fruit or a samll glass of juice. Doing that within a half an hour of your workout helps your torn down muscles begin the recoverey process.

thx Ygrene, I will take your suggestions into account!

Wow! mever noticed this thread before! maybe you lot can help me :)

Basically back at the start of October i got a blood infection from the dentists. Within 2 weeks i went from 10 1/2 stone to 8. which is just wrong (im 5 foot 9 btw). As i took the 4 week course of Antibiotics, only then to be told ive got an infection in my kidneys. :wtf:

So i was put on two more antibiotic courses and these ones destroyed me. im off them now but feel weak aswell as still being 8 stone. :sadgreen:

Now my question is....

How can i get back to my usual weight as quick as possible!?!?! :happy2:

:D

Are you wanting to do this thru exercise Jake?

Most likely, your body will return to it's former state on it's own, it will just take some time.

I would just give it some time, your body should adjust back relatively quickly, as long as you are eating.

Do you currently have a workout routine?

Floorfiller
and ygrene is right. it is usually fairly easy to return your body to a point that it has already been to physically because of muscle memory bla bla. start working out regularly, i'm sure we can help you with a routine if you need one, and you should be able to get back to where you were if not better...

Bump

I need to get back on the ball myself. I have a nice weight bar here at home (no bench though, I use my bed!), and I'm thinking about buying a punching bag for the basement.
