I guess it's becuase the fat is being replaced by muscles or something, and it's all "firm" now :/

I'm thinking of doing some push ups, but the last time I did this, I ended up with a back ache.

compensate with doing more situps.. strengthen your lower back on the negatives (going down)

I just realised I confused "push ups" with "sit ups" :p

But yeah, that thing's been destroying my spine for some reason. Wikipedia taught me a new way of doing it, I'm going to give it a try :)

I find its a cycle thing. Hi reps helps, do lower weight or the same weight if you can and higher reps. A bit of cardio also helps, be it treadmills or games like basketball, football, soccer or whatnot. But what you eat is also important. You should have a different diet for bulking up and for cutting down.

In my opinion low carbs, high protein and supplement with glucose. Depends on your body. If your in it for the long haul experiment with different things. Protein and fiber is harder to turn into fat than carbs if i recall correctly. In this stage it is important to count your intake of calories and the calories you burn. Again this is only if your really serious about it. I would wait for other peeps like orbax or masonious to post abt the diet cuz they take it more seriously than me and can give you more general guidliness than me. For me, my body can burn fat fast if i cut down a bit on my food intake, and it builds a lot of bulk if i increase my food intake. My trick for when i want to burn fat is to stay with fruits like apples and bananas and things like tuna sandwiches and yougurt for a while and that works pretty well. Just be sure to shy from unnecessary calories such as sweets, pasta, beer and whatnot.

Working out each muscle 1 day per week ( as your 3 days/week plan suggests) will not do the job. I have seen great improvement in my strength by doing the Arnold workout, which can be read in his weightlifting book.
In short,
day 1- Chest, tricepts
day 2-back, shoulders, bicepts
day 3-rest or legs if your extreme (but i enjoy the day off)
repeat
.

It will work. Your muscles only grow when they are being rested, and protein in take is sufficent.

Also in the workout plan i posted, most muscles are being worked twice a week.

Chest excercise will give your triceps and good work on their own, that why i but do biceps with my chest routine.

Most back excercises give your biceps and good workout in at the same time. This is why i do triceps with back

So your are working the muscles twice a week. Shoulders get worked with back and chest excercises too.

Last point, i am amazed(and disappoint :p) Orbax hasnt given you his leg speech. By not doing legs at all your leaving out the best all round muscle building excercise there is in the Squat. Having a big upper body and small legs doesnt look good either.

Be courteous in the gym. I had a dude steal my machine yesterday and then he got ty when I politely asked if I could work in with him.

I swear I'll kick an old person.

i'd be all like...honored and stuff to work in with you :p

when you do your situps.. make sure you curl your body into it don't have a flat back on your way up
