I think youd feel better if you stopped drinking milk. I know I did. Lots more energy, stopped getting sick, stopped having too much mucous.
I usually just hold my breath and chug them down hehe. little kid style plugging the nose might help.
Both are fine though :D
looks like youre doing well on weights, although the differnce between the weight you are doing with dumbells and weights on barbells is worrisome.
Doing that much on DB makes me think your form might be suffering from too much weight. Like, you arent going down all the way or are arching your back to help lift it.
Try making sure that if there was a bar between the centers of the Dumbells, it would touch your chest going down. Also try putting your feet up on the bench to really isolate that chest.
Other than that, its a solid routine.
Any particular reason for a reverse buildup on Dumbells weights ? (going from high to low instead of other way around)

there was a period of 6 months that i have not drink any mlik. And i agree with what you said. However i have to drink those protein crap or else i will not recover better. And i really puked trying it with water ;/
Strange thing is, some stuff i am really weak in. I can't leg press much. maybe 150 kilo (75 each side) few reps, but i could put a 100 kilo leg extension with ease few sets.
I suck @ bench press with a bar, but seem to do oke with dumbell and i feel it more also. So i guess it's a preference.
As for the question high to low. I usually go for high weight low reps 4 sets. And it was a while since i dumbell pressed (aprox 2 weeks was @ 34) So i hoped i could get 4x 36 but i managed 2 only so i went a bit lower in weight to keep the reps at least above 6x.
There was a period of 4 weeks where i went dubmell pressing 4x high weight 6 rep each set. @ the start i had trouble with 28 kilos. 4 weeks later it was 34. And i wanne work my way to 40 coz it just look damn cool to push 2 bigs things in the air :D. So thats why i just start high with weight. |

i think the reason orbax is asking this is because with dumbells you often compensate form for weight thinking you want to push more weight but sacrifice form to do so. That could hurt you.
With barbells/bench you are restricted to a certain form, certain hand grip, certain hand width apart thus keeping your form locked to a position where you can only maintain/push a certain amount of weight.
Often people go to dumbell because they find they can push more weight but end up losing the form and hurting yourself. I've gone to dumbell press myself but I don't stack weight as if i were benching. dumbell press helps me keep my form and target my chest differently than say flat out benching weight. it's a different cut to the muscle then a deep press with heavy weight would do |

thats kind of what I was getting at hehe. Im down to mainly doing flys with DBs but when I press I barely touch the 80s and focus on keeping the feet on the bench. Get great workouts. On the flat bench, I was doing about the same weight (135 lbs) but now that ive been doing flat for a couple weeks I was able to knock out 225 on flat.
Ive noticed an over emphasis of the lower back and shoulders on dumbells and its really hard to get out of the weight idea and get into proper form. Even when I was benching with the 100lb dbs I had a TINY chest and my flat bench still sucked which tells me my high weight on dumbells wasnt because my chest was strong.
Just something to look into. I also ripped my shoulder and have been recovering for a few years now. I just dont think the heavy dumbells are where youre going to get mass. They are better for getting inner chest, definition, and striations *imho*
just a thought.

Just got back from Jamaica and I have to say, working out in an open air gym at 6am and then immediately going for a swim in the sea is one of the most rewarding experiences I've had in a long time. It was a little weird working with kilograms at first but, it all translates pretty easy.
I was gald I had a chance to work out while there; it made me not feel as guilty drinking and eating the way I did. ;)
p.s. - I have never swam so much in my life, I can't believe how good it made my junky hips and knee feel. I'm going to start swimming more often. |

Where abouts n Jamaica? I just wrapped up a photoshoot at Hedo 3, whenever I was in the gym at night people would come in and try to get me to come out and party..and the bartenders would give me a weird look whenever I ordered a diet pepsi, serves me right I guess, hehe...it'll all pay off though, competition in 18 days!!!! |
