Does anyone have any tips for getting in shape for endurance?
I am going to start kayaking (A little late this year) and I want to be in shape. I know I can just get out there, but the first time is always exhausting. I would rather be more prepared. |

Cardio (running) & upper body strength, is what you need to work on. If your into kayaking you need a lot of upper body strength because in this sport your body is in a monotonous seating position. Your arms, chest & more importantly proper posture is what you should focus on. Instead all of those endless exercises that we all can think, all you need is the old fashion bench press or the standing alternate shoulder press (which is the same as the siting one, expect only your standing) :) Remember since you need the strength, don't do more than 4-5 reps a set of the same weight. Add more weight when you feel ready. Focus on this for the time beign and than switch to 10 rep sets. This form of workout is not established within a few months, so if your kayaking next weekend or next month, this won't help much lol. Optimal strength is reached within a year of working out.
P.S. I'm into kayaking as well :) |

kayaking would use your back and lets and abs and biceps.
Doing a punching bag workout would work all of those out very well. do 4-5 3 minute rounds a day on that and youll be good.
seated rows, lat pulls downs, t-bar rows will all get you goin |
