Right just a few quick questions....
1) ive been told im working out to hard.. i go to the gym 5 times a week and spend 2 hours in ther 1 hour on cardio ( Treadmill, Crosstrainer, rowing machine ) and 1 hour weight training doing a full body workout.. now my question is this am i working out to hard, are my mates right to be worried about me even tho i feel like i want more after my workout.
2) i want to start taking creatine but i dont want to BULK up just define all my muscles.. should i?
My Diet is very good TBH its mainly Low GI carbs in the morning and then high GI carbs after workout with PLENTY protien ( no supplements just yet coz of the limited funds ) rich foods..98% of junk food has been out the window ( just cheese n white bread that needs getting rid off ).
it makes it hard sumtimes since my main shifts are night shifts but i still manage to rip the gym
im 6ft 4-5 215lbs and 20 years old |

You're working out heavily, but not too much imo. I've got vacation the next 5 weeks, and I'm planning to go to the gym twice a day (1.5 hours in the morning and about 2-2.5 hours in the evening). That's definitely too much, but it's only one month :clown: (btw legs in the morning and chest/back rotated in the evening) |

Whats your gym routine? What weights do you do on the 5 days?
Easier for people to say when your post your daily gym routine but i would say that you are overtraining. Your muscles grow only grow when they are being rested. If you are not getting enough rest they will grow as much as they could.
Also what are you aims in going to the gym? Do you want to lose weight, gain muscles mass - both? Or just do it for fun?

I wouldnt know enough about creatine so i wont give adivce, i am sure orbax will know though.
However i would suggest using the money you plan to spend on creatine and get protien supplements instead. Personnally i would recommend taking creatine when you have hit a plateau and havent made any gains after about 3 months. |

personally i think overtraining is a bit of a myth.
what is overtraining? training to the point of injury?
if you are worried about hurting yourself...first off you're probably not training safely and correctly to begin with.
i think if you're eating enough to support the exercise you can workout as much as you want. |

| overtraining is breaking down muscle faster than it can grow back |

Some pics, took a couple of months off due to finals and then a roadtrip, getting back in to the routine this past two weeks. im trimming off fat and trying to keep the muscle mass, its working out pretty well, lost about 6 or 7 pounds, i know its mostly water and whatnot but im still losing weight without losing size for all i can see. routine is basically doing medium-heavy(about 80% of my 1rm) weights with low-medium reps (from 6 to 12 sometimes 4).

kinda crappy, took them with my webcam, my normal camera is fscked. Also as far as creatine goes it doesnt help you bulk up necessarily, it may give the appearence of bulking up cuz it makes you retain water, but creatine only gives you some extra energy and helps with recovery times in my experience. |

9.30: 4 eggs (only egg-white), a slice of bread and orange juice
10.30-12.00: Legs + Abs
12.30: Pasta with meat sauce
17.00: broccoli with potatoes and meat
19.00: Chest + arms
20.30: A sandwich with tuna, tomatoes & lettuce + orange juice
That was basically the first day of my training schedule. I'll gradually ad some cardio in during the afternoon (tomorrow = squash game).
Is there anything that I should improve food-wise? |

| that sounds like a killer routine. i think you have enough carbs and protein in that diet so you shouldnt have any problems, are you going for bulking up? |
|
|

overtraining also effects the central nervous system aswell, can't sleep properly, elevated heart rate when you wake up etc
it isn't just an go eat alot and train balls to the wall, your body needs proper time to heal.
In other news............
So the last time I was on this thread I said how I competed in the FAME Great White North competition and placed 1st receiving my pro status...then I got a phone call from the organizer saying that there wasn't enough people in my category (they said there had to 15 and there was only 11). So I went off to Toronto thinking I had to compete in the advanced division to hopefully get one of 3 procards.
I get to the registration and the headjudge tells me that the organizer made a mistake, and I actually was supposed to be Pro!!!
The small downside was that my carb loading was scheduled towards my competition on Saturday and I had to compete that night on friday. So I didn't look as nice and full as I was supposed to but oh well .....
I GOT MY PROCARD WOOT WOOT!!!!
taking some time off from the gym and giving my body a rest after 10 hard weeks of training and dieting! |
