A few things I would change to make the game a little more interesting would be
1. Get rid of off-sides
2. Make the field shorter and narrower
3. Change the penalty system - no more yellow cards or red cards. You foul someone and you are down a man for "x" amount of time.
4. Bring in instant replay for diving and if you are caught diving you are removed for the remainder of the game.
5. Get rid of this continuous time with extra time. Have a stop clock and use it. |

I came into this World Cup with an open mind and they have failed to entertain me one bit. From the boring games to the bad calls to the lack luster performance from the top teams to the constant diving this sport has once again proven to me that its the most boring and ridiculous sport ever invented. I can only hope that one day they will band soccer from being played across the globe. I hate every thing about the sport and I hate everyone who even for a second thinks this is an entertaining sport. |
Good, now off from here and let us enjoy the cup. |

I agree...get rid of baseball too...any game that lasts over three hours is just retarded. |

how can you seriously enjoy this garbage they are trying to call soccer, footy, football, or whatever other name they have for it. This is a sport that refuses to make any changes that might actually make the game enjoyable....its as bad as baseball with the whole tradition crap. |

None of that makes any sense at all except for 4)
1. Evidently you've never played football at school or with mates, when there's no offside people will just camp at the area and wait for the long balls. Makes for a ridiculously ugly game with no short passing, where physical ability takes precedence over technical and tactical ability.
2. This cup is proving that there's barely any space as it is for teams to make attacking moves. That'd make the game uglier and more defensive.
3. Only a yank/canadian could have an issue with this, what's the problem? This isn't NHL.
4. I agree that it's a bit ass-backwards that there's video evidence and it's not used, and they should be harsher with dives, but red card for it is exaggerated - what about those plays where the player lets himself fall but there's contact? Red card for that?
5. See 3.
Go watch hockey or basketball instead of proposing stupid for a game you evidently know nothing about and don't care about. |

A World Cup is not the best to start and base your judgement on. |

1. nah
2. nah its fine
3. yes
4. yes yes yes especially if there's no contact
5. yes and make the halfs 30 minutes instead, that'll be 30 minutes of pure play, not 45 minutes of ing around trying to waste time when you are winning 1-0. |

1. I have played with friends and at school....you are right....in those games you will get that problem...this however is the best players and coaches in the world. They know that tactic will not work. I don't think you would see much change in the game other then some more fast breaks that turn into scoring chances.
2. I don't disagree but I would think the pace of the game would pick up with a smaller field.
3. I don't have a big problem with the penalty system....its just another idea for trying to get more goal scoring and offense in the game.
4. It would be up to the referee to make that call....hence why you need instant replay to make the call as I don't think you can make that call on the fly.
5. If you are going to have instant replay then you need to have stop time. I've seen in more then one game where the team winning in extra time does everything it can to delay play so they don't give up a gold. Beside, the referees are inconsistent with how much extra time is allowed. |
