Well that's what a lot of the people on here believe- that there's still "tradition" in football...or sports in general.
These kind of people make the same case against baseball getting instant replay. They compare baseball today to what it was back in 1910 and say they shouldn't ruin the tradition of the game.
Meanwhile, baseball is 99% different today than it was back then. There is no tradition left between all the steroids, HGH, new stadium dimensions, new bat technology, new training methods, new glove shapes, new uniform styles, new batting helmets, new batting gloves, new on-deck warmup methods... |
everything but new fans...talk about a game in decline. |

Well, you could limit the use of replay to allowing or disallowing goals involving only certain circumstances such as debated offsides, breach of the goal line, handball infractions, etc. |
As much as the rest of the world makes fun of the NFL, they should take a look at how they handle replay. They really do a much better job than anybody else. |

I expect instant replay is going to be announce soon. More big shots like former dutch top referree Mario van der Ende, Guus Hiddink and Louis van Gaal want it to be used too.
Also Platini and Beckenbauer I heard. Pressure to use it now will get very high. Hiddink today even said Blatter should announce it tomorrow or leave. |

It does have to be limited but once you introduce instant replay then players, coaches and fans will all be asking why this and that are not part of instant replay. Questions like why isn't diving part of instant replay will definitely come into play at some point. |

Lol almost a fight for that horrible offsides call on the sidelines after the half. The refs had to come in there and break up a huge scrum between Mexico and Argentina players.
We need more of this- we need more tightening of the screws to get these football "traditionalists" to grow a pair of balls and get instant replay instated. |

I think the ideal move is to have another referee who watches the game on a monitor and can quickly review something while the play continues. It shouldn't take that long to review if a play was offside or if a goal did go in. |
Yes at home we can make the call just after a few seconds. I can't see why a ref behind a dew monitors would do it worse or slower. |

| you can have goalline technology without anything else. It's quite simple, develop a system where there is a chip in the ball and it registers when crossing the line. |

| if they had instant replay, the most famous world cup goal in history would not have counted. |

Don't they already have that? It's just they have decided not to use it? |

I believe a system for it has been developed. With the fourth official they could easily monitor it & call it back within seconds too. |

or as simple as a ref with a blue tooth device and a guy upstairs watching every play.
i think it should only be used for goal line breaches and possible hand balls in the penalty area. |
