interesting --- i'm an american...but whenever the world cup rolls around i find myself rooting against the US. even in the olympics - especially the winter olympics.
i'm not even sure what it is- parents are from austria, spent a lot of time there as a kid, so in the winter olympics i find myself rooting for austria. world cup / international soccer i generally root for the germans - and then maybe a few underdog nations as well. but i can't stand to root for the US, surrounded by people who think the US can in some way win the world cup...and i grew very tired of hearing "the most anticipated match of the world cup: USA-England"
whatever.

i'm only italian once every 4 years...other than that i bear the shame of the greasy letter and try not to think about being part wop.

I could so easily say this about England (but I don't think I could root against them, even though I think they're useless when I think about how much they get paid and how little they've won in the last 40 years).
