FYI, I just read this:
Last season more people in the US watched football than Basketball or Icehocky.
More tickets to the SA WC games were sold to Americans than the number two and three country together.
Go Aussies Go :) Nice for the Dutch coach Pim Verbeek too. |

You can't just look at your own situation...as you said your father never played any sports. School and friends are also influences but you can't ignore the influences a father or mother will have on a child....especially if they are active in sports. If my kids came to me and said they wanted to play soccer I wouldn't say they couldn't. |
My situation was just an example to show that there are a lot of influences besides that of the father. By that I'm not saying there aren't many fathers which do have a lot of influence on their children regarding sport.
Time will tell I guess. |

I think German has a stronger team but both teams have looked shaky this tournament. |

i have a ffeeling after australia got up 2 - 0. Germany and ghana had an agreeement that they would just keep the score the same so they could both advanced. Did anyone notice this too?
looks like playing the games at the same time still doesnt completely fix teh issue. |

Then Germany will win because they are the better tournament players. My bets are on Germany, but it will be a nice game I think. |

I don't think there was an agreement, but they will have been aware of the score in the other match. |

If Rooney can pick up his game then anything can happen. I don't think he will....he is past his prime and I just don't know if he has it in him. |

well some sort of truce not to play hard on eachother in order for them both to advance. I don't know, but it seemed like a complete lack of trying towards the end. |

| both sides seemed content with a 1-0 outcome, sure. but ghana still showed a willingness to score - and i think the germans did as well, though perhaps they were more concerned with simply not giving up a goal. |

this thread is nearly 140 pages now...and a good portion of that has been stupid arguments. let's argue about who will win, bitches! not about why you don't like football and feel that once every 4 years you should voice your opinion.
i'm betting the south koreans will meet ghana in the quarters, smash them...and gain the confidence to win the whole thing :tongue2 |
