that. That's about the stupidest thing I've seen you post. Judas. |
What? Just because I'd rather see some more diversity instead of the same team winning over and over again? Really, this is not unlike Schumacher winning 5 championships in a row (after having won a couple of them some years earlier).
ps.: Why Judas? Just because I was born here or something? |

And that's precisely why I wouldn't mind if another team won it every once in a while so they could feel it as well. Should it be a consolation prize to the poor people in a country that need to struggle to make a living, Nigeria should take it. It's never won a single world cup, and have you seen how many Nigerians there are in the world?
You see, Brazil is not the poorest country out there (we're doing fine in the HDI, by the way, not to mention that fact that we're one of the ten greatest economies in the world), and we're quite good in other sports too: we used to have a descent tennis player (Gustavo Kuerten), a couple of exceptional medal winning swimmers, a successful volleyball team, a good reputation in F1...
In all seriousness, I just want the best to win (I couldn't care less if they come from the place I was born or elsewhere in the world as long as they're good), and I'll be more than happy if the best happens to be the underdog, and a Brazilian victory will be anything but a surprise.
Also, cox. |

Yeah, my opinions are not really very orthodox... and I reckon most Brazilians would probably want to lynch me for having them :p
(actually, my wariness of nationalism in general probably plays a role in my thoughts here)

that fact is not relevant , consider that before spain, Greece won the European cup and they didnt even qualify to 2006 , |
Spain had a big problem for many years, the same problem as holland, a lack of togetherness. the real players played for themselves, the barca too, the athletic also. For 2008 they all played as a team and it showed what could happen when such individual talent did so. This time around they're only a slight bit different, senna out, cesc in, marchena out, pique in, who is a much better player, as a valencia fan, I don't think marchena is that good esp at centre back so i believe they're stronger now. If they keep the togetherness, they'll be fine. We have the problem at england that nobody likes the chelsea players, so we won't win it.

ribbery, benzema, lass amongst others..... great team, but i doubt they will go too far. |
Benzema won't play much, the coach doesn't rate him at all, he was picking players like gignac over him in the playoff game & throughout qualifying. France looked awful and didn't deserve to be there which makes them an ominous bet. |

I wasn't being 100% serious, but I still don't understand how you can't get at least some patriotic sense of pride coming from somewhere who excels in something. I'm the least patriotic person I know, but I still offer our team the best support I can because I know it means a whole lot to the people that come from the same place as me. |
