we took the wrong players for a start. SWP, Heskey etc aren't gamewinners at this level.
What do their performances have to do with Rooney's touch? Against Algeria he couldn't trap a ball. It was like he was drunk.
The starting XI for most of the tournament was basically the same one we used in qualifying, where we were rampant. Saying Heskey isn't a winner "at this level" is ing nonsense, because Algeria, Slovenia and the USA are not at a higher level than the teams we played in qualifying.
Capello made some bad decisions, but the team sheet and the tactics cannot be blamed for the complete regression in form and ability all the players suffered.

Just concluding what happened yesterday and not being nationalist or justified, FIFA has to use technology for the upcoming football events.
That would helps us all to not break our head on the "what would of happen if the right decision was made"

that's another part of the problem though. I think hunger and complacency are issues, but rooney is different. Something isn't right in his head and he hasn't had 'it' since fergie rushed him back against munich, simple as. We have mental issues (terry) and the pressure of gerrard & lampard to work together. Heskey was a problem because in qualifying, rooney & others were scoring but when they don't, he is shown up because he's more of a layer on of goals than a scorer of, so you need your other forward and attacking mids to be playing well, in this case they weren't.
Most shocking was the defending though. I don't know if they didn't care, didn't like fabio or just thought it would be easy & it wasn't but it was awful. We've not looked as weak in places since carlton palmer and john salako got a game in white.

simple. new surface, beit water, clay or sand, that the ball would leave a good mark in. Water would be funny but it'd actually work. Since 'technology' doesn't exist in football, and human error is a codeword for blatter not giving a until it happens to someone he cares for, it won't change.

Rooney has been my greatest 2010 World Cup disappointment so far.

He wasn't scoring but he could certainly do the basics for United. He was also clearly unfit and being forced into playing because Man United were useless without him. He was supposed to be fit by now. He was far from the only one to completely lose form, though.

The defending was only really bad against Germany, and I'll agree it was probably due to the players. Upson is not a quality defender and Glen Johnson is far, far better at attacking than defending. Terry thinks blind passion wins you the game, hence his terrible positioning throughout. David James cracked under pressure, as usual.

I've been calling for Hart for months. He is in the better form of the three chosen and he has bottle, if you saw the u21 champs you'd see that.
Rooney, it has to be mental as well but , i've never seen someone so good look so bad, maybe he's been training with berbatov too much.
Defending wise rio wasn't the answer either. we just need a complete clean slate and see how it goes. Barry as a defensive player was poor and hopefully something like rodwell & wilshere would give us a good balance.
