Anyway, the point is Messi doesn't play at the level he shows with Barca. And if he is to stand out during the WC he needs to do more than just finish plays. He has vision and a lot of potential.
I understand. My point in showing those Copa America goals is that the Argentina of 2006-2007 had a very clear style of play and set of tactics where every player worked. That Argentina squad played the best football I've ever seen, and Messi was not the star of it because it didn't need him to be. Now I watch Argentina and wonder what happened to the team that passed the ball better than Barcelona. They have no style, no system, just a set of players who don't know their roles and make it up as they go along. No player can thrive under these conditions. At Barcelona Messi knows his role, his job, his place in the team. He knows what positions to take, what runs to make, what things to do.

Yeah, they did. Beating a the top-ranked team that was unbeatable was great for them. They're certainly better. But I don't think they'll make it far in the WC.
I agree with you. Just saying that they should be given more credit than they are given, due to the way they have been playing as of late.

I think this is the year that the US sheds a lot of it's bad footy image. We'll start by beating England, thank you :D

The US does have a good team with young and talented players. I wouldn't be surprised if they advance to the second round.
Now, for the sexy side of futbol:

So Ronny and Adriano were not called up to the Brazilian squad. Interesting.

Ronaldinho, Adriano and Neymar have been left off Brazil's 23-player World Cup roster. Coach Dunga was to announce seven others later Tuesday, completing the team's preliminary 30-man list, which was due to FIFA. The 23-man list doesn't have to be finalized until June 1. Kaka, Robinho, Maicon and Julio Cesar made the cut, but three-time FIFA player of the year Ronaldo and veteran left back Roberto Carlos were not selected. Dunga is sticking to most of the players who helped Brazil win last year's Confederations Cup and finish first in South American World Cup qualifying.

The problem is Maradona. He insists on placing Messi in a different position than the one he plays in Barcelona.

it's interesting how much better Maradona would've been if he didn't snort all that cocaine... or is it what made him good? ...
