You sure talk a lot of . Every single player on the Swiss squad plays for a professional European football club. They have 7 players in the German Bundesliga, 6 in the Swiss Super League, 4 in the Italian Serie A, 2 in the English Premiership, 2 in the French Ligue 1, and 1 in the Dutch Eredivisie.
Having a bad day are we? :gsmile:
Jesus, The swiss super league is a joke and mainly filled with players that have day jobs. I know becuase I live about 30% of the year in Switzerland and my missus is Swiss. It's barely regarded as a proper profession over there.
Remember FC Thun in the champions league a few years back? I know some of the team (one of whom is now in the national squad) and until the WC they have full time normal day jobs. 7 of the starting team play for local clubs in switzerland that you've never heard of and never will, and the rest even though some play for european teams aren't even part of the starting line ups at those clubs.
Spain just got schooled by part timers and bench squad. Take it like a Hombre :stongue:

Even if that were true, the only 2 swiss league players that played today were Hakan Yakin, a well known international star, and Benjamin Huggel who has played in Germany at a very professional level.
And I have heard of all the clubs. Basel, Young Boys and FC Zurich are very well known after various campaigns in Europe, certainly have more of an high profile than FC Thun. Then there's a guy from the lesser known Luzern side who is the previously mentioned Hakan Yakin, certainly not an amateur.
There's nobody from Thun at the moment there, which is only natural because Thun was relegated 2 years ago and don't play at the top swiss level anymore. That would make some sense as to why you think they're amateurs - perhaps the 2nd swiss level isn't professional.
But my point is that you're full of .

It's difficult to understand because it's completely wrong. The loss against the USA was the only one in a run of about 48 matches. In their last warm-up game they beat Poland 6-0, and tell me any team that scores this kind of goal has no chemistry:
The real problem with Spain is that they have no Plan B, much like Barcelona. Their passing is sublime but sometimes it just isn't enough to crack a tough defence. None of the substitutions today really helped, and Jesus Navas in particular delivered a string of utterly awful crosses.
We've already seen with Inter Milan this season that controlling possession and dominating the play is not everything football is about. This Switzerland victory is another example of it, and don't be surprised if this World Cup is won by a side who don't dominate possession but who counter-attack with incredible efficiency.
Pretty good analysis. I don't even think Spain played badly today, at least from the highlights I watched (didn't see the game). With a bit of bad luck, some tactical deficiencies and against a side playing well defensively, these things happen.

Finally, as for the "bench players", Diego Benaglio is an absolute key player in Wolfsburg, certainly one of the best keepers playing in Germany; Gelson Fernandes didn't do well at Man City but was one of the most used players in Saint-Etienne this year; Lichtsteiner's a great defender for Lazio; Derdiyok was one of the top scorers in the Bundesliga; his team-mate Barnetta is the club's playmaker star; and Inler's the soul of the Udinese side, currently pretended by all the heavyweights in Europe.
Yeah, that's a joke of team made up of washed up subs. Totally.

Oi, Ireland is a good team! And I'm impressed by your memory. I don't remember who Brazil played against in the previous world cups... except for the one time we got beaten by France and the amazing match against Holland back in 1994.
Hey, I just saw we beat the US on the 4th July that year, in American territory :p
Well, I am a little older and only consider myself a wop for a few weeks every 4 years so it is easy to remember an embarrassment like that .
Who can forget Roberto (B)Faggio?
Renzo
Diego Forlan's first goal was ridiculous.

"Key player", "soul of the side" " "playmaker star"
Gimme a ing break.
And who said washed up? I just said unknowns. If you'd ever been to Switzerland you'd know how little football matters in the grand scheme of things (unlike in spain and mexico). it is true btw. Seven of the starting line up only play in local swiss teams. Google it if you have to, then get over it. I love it when people try to build up their enemy's after a defeat. Do you think it mitigates your loss to them?
You sound like an utter twat trying to convince anyone that the swiss team or even league is superstar filled with amazing talent just because they beat you with style. The more you try to publicise the swiss team the more you prove it (i.e. you wouldn't have to if they were all that ing famous).
Don't get me wrong, was cheering for the swiss, but don't piss on my leg and tell me it's champagne.

I just did, and only 7 of the 23 man Swiss squad play in Switzerland. Switzerland may not be a world beating side, but 15 of their World Cup players play in top European leagues (England, Italy, Germany, France) and players like Senderos, Behrami and Fernandez have played for Premiership teams.
