LOL TELL ME YOUR JOKING? |
I read it in The Times recently. North Korea doesn't have any live sport on its sole TV channel anyway, and radio was apparently declared "an enemy of the state" a few years ago.

People keep bringing up the Spanish choke, but they won the European cup so.....:conf: |
They won the European Championship in 1968 as well, but did they do well at the 1970 World Cup? Holland are another side famous for choking at tournaments, and when they won the 1988 European Championship it was supposed to be the end of the curse. They weren't too hot in Italia 90.
I think Spain can definitely be finalists, and they can win it, but they always have a great squad, they always expect to do well and they always fall short. The World Cup is littered with great sides who didn't win it - Holland in 1970, Brazil in 1982 and Argentina in 2006 are just a few. The Euro Championship is a smaller stage with less games, and really they beat a terrible Italy side on penalties, an over-achieving Russia who aren't even at this World Cup and the worst Germany team in a decade. |

I wasn't being 100% serious, but I still don't understand how you can't get at least some patriotic sense of pride coming from somewhere who excels in something. I'm the least patriotic person I know, but I still offer our team the best support I can because I know it means a whole lot to the people that come from the same place as me. |
But Brazil excels in far more than that!
Also, I tend to think about the people that were born in the same month as me, and the people that share the same blood type, people that listen to the same kind of music I do, and so on. I see no reason not to think of them in the same way as my fellow countrymen. We've got something in common as well, and I'm sure around 8% of the population of any given country was born in January :p |

I wont be that bold, but I don't completely disagree either. |

| Soccer would be so much better if the refs knew what they they were doing. |
|

| Its not always the refs fault, but the dinosaurs that run soccer not allowing modren technology to be be implemented for video replays allowing quick assessments of controversial plays. |

yeah lets root for egypt.... oh wait :p |
:(
Last thing on Spain, they're a different team now then they were 6-8 years ago. They're younger, more confident and on top of the footballing world. Will they win 100%? No way anyone can say that, but there's absolutely no reason to discount them. They DID beat England you know :p |

i think brazil has had a good record considering they have had the most variations in line-ups through qualifying. Every player Dunga put played tip top.
Anyhow, my www.punishers big surprise pick for the WC is Mexico.. those dirty Mexican bastards. They are playing really well at the moment. Great team to boot. |

Teams that will choke
Holland
Spain
Argentina
England
Portugal
Teams that will make it far and put up a good fight till the end:
Germany
Ivory Coast
Ghana
Italy
Team i think will win it
Brazil
only because all round Brazil have the team. they got Luis Fabiano and a lot of talented youngsters in all positions.
Argentina really just has Messi and the rest are good but not as good as say when you compare with Brazilian players such as Maicon. Argentina don't have a proper full back like Maicon. Brazil has Dani Alves and Maicon for each flank and then they have a Rafael who plays for Man Utd. |
