Let's call it Spanish flavor offensive play which equal 90 minutes snoozefest games.
I'll be happy, and you guys will be able to label Spain as "offensive" lol |

I don't think anyone's arguing that Spain's matches were entertaining neither. :p
Although despite all the kickboxing that ruined the flow of the final, we did see a lot of clear chances in that game - thank the dutch for pressing Spain high up the field, not approaching it as defensively as us and the germans did. ;) |

I don't think being offensive or not is a matter of pure mathematics. |
when you think about it, it's simply a matter of having one more goal than your opponent, so there's some maths involved ;) And how uncool sports would be without all the stats involved with them. |

I hope that for the next world cup they don't up with the ball as they did this time.
this would be my pick for 2014 :p

since the premier league & la liga have deals with nike for balls, any nike balls would go down well. |

This is hardly a scientific method, but I don't think the Olympics back up your point in the slightest. |
No, they don't. As you seem to have missed, my original point had nothing to do with success. I stated that when the chips are down for England in team sports (i.e. being 3/60 and chasing 240 in a one-day cricket match), they rarely seem to recover. Other sporting nations seem much better at this, and I believe it's due to morale. |

I think you need to re-read your own first post if you think that was your original point.
We actually made, or should have made, a remarkable recovery against Germany when we were 2-0 down. If not for an idiotic linesman we would have levelled it 2-2 before half time despite being utterly outplayed for most of the first half.
I can't be bothered to compare all sports because you have no real reasoning for this assertion beyond vague anecdotal evidence with no cited examples, but in football the problem usually comes in penalty shoot-outs, where we aren't trailing at all, and have often fought our way back into the game. Penalties are the ultimate pressure situation and that's when we bottle it, with victory within grasp. |

Actually, the only people that had "problems" with the balls were the ones losing. The teams that were winning loved the new balls :p |

Doubt that, winning teams might even have scored more is also a possibility.
The fields also often were total crap, much too hard, too dry and grass was flying around.
I didn't have any joy seeing so many cross shots go out, or didn't slow down enough for players to reach them after running their ass off. |

With all due respect, Syst, this remark is rather amusing because it sounds like you're saying that...
"If you think you meant to say what you did, I imagine you're wrong because I reckon you actually intended to say something else because of how you phrased it, never mind the fact that you're the one doing the talking" :p |

FIFA had conceded the ball, even though it met the manufacturing standards, was problematic during this world cup and they will not be using the same design for the next WC.
This WC was dramatically low in terms of goals scored. In fact spain scored the fewest goals as Champions in WC history (8).
You can't blame it all on the ball but I don't think it helped. The general concensus was that the ball didn't travel well in the air and did not behave consistantly in different conditions or altitudes. |
