congrats to Greece for their first ever World Cup win.

God, I remember I felt really really bad for him that day. I can't imagine what he must've felt like...
The Italian tabloids made Baggio go cou cou, and he was never the same again. To be fair to him though, I can't kick straight either when I get repeatedly sodomized by my teammates before the big game.

Messi showing his brilliance.
I'm glad he's finally been allowed to shine with Maradona's new 4-3-3 system. He's playing pretty much in the same position as he does in Barcelona. Why did it take Maradona 2 years to realize that's what he had to do?

Are you deliberately being ing stupid or do you not know anything about football? "23 man squad" and "starting line up" are not the same thing. Let's go through the starting line up from yesterday man by man and look at where they play:
Only one player in the starting line-up plays in Switzerland currently, and every single one of them has played professionally in a major European league, where they earned a -ton more money than you ever will. You know nothing about football, you are utterly wrong.
Now off.
It was the bit about "extreme armchain manager punditry" that really struck a nerve wasn't it? :p
Face it. Switzerland doesn't give a about football, only have a population of 7/8 million (which is actually decreasing), and I seriously doubt that anyone reading this thread who isn't a serious football fan or an armchair pundit/manager had heard of 90% of the swiss squad as opposed to football giants spain, whose country lives and breathes football, has a population more than ten times the size (and therefore a larger pool of players to draw from) and virtually every single player in that team is a known superstar to football fans or even a mainstream household name and or international tabloid fodder.
I bet the top 4 players in the spanish team earn more than the entire swiss team combined.
As I said, the swiss team are a bunch of unknowns compared to the superstardom of the spanish team and they got convincingly controlled and beaten by the Swiss. Just get over it.
Now please stop walking in to the troll trap that I told you I was done with several pages ago. You're talking about football on a trance forum. I could care less what your armchair opinions are.

:stongue:
Heh, I feel bad for him. To decide 4 years or hard work in just a few penalty kicks is just unbearable. Specially when two other team mates already failed to score the goals you needed to have some piece of mind.
Why is it that we all remember Baggio, but we can't remember Massaro or Baresi?
Schadenfreude
I remember them. :)
People remember Baggio because they should have won that game. Add getting robbed by the officials against South Korea and we would have more cups than Brazil;p

It was also because Baggio was a superstar when football was at one of it's peaks.
My old hairdresser in London was from the same home town as Baggio and all the local guys dreaded when he came in town.....he could walk in to any club, just look around and point at 2 or 3 of the hottest women in there an walk back to his room with them, just like that.

Yeah, that about Platini even sounded mature :)
I expected a reaction far worse actually.
