i'm happy spain lost, but to say that they are is a little ummmm....dumb.

It is only one game...and if a bunch of wops in pointy shoes can win after slow starts, rest assured that a bunch of upper class mexicans can do it to.

You know, we've really had a rough time of it, the past few years, what with losing an already depleted supply of esteem from the world community. Even if it's just a clearly feigned self-respect adopted to soothe a bruising historical narrative, can't you just let us have this one, small victory?

Currently. I didn't think it was to difficult to understand. Things changed since the Euro Cup, man, losing to the US in the Confederations Cup being one of them.

yeah....so they lost a game. it's doubtful they'll have any trouble leaving the group. let's see what it looks like when they really start playing (as bad as todays display was)

anybody else that can't wait for a s. african equalizer here?

.....and they just got convincingly beaten by a team of players who are semi pro and some even have normal day jobs :wtf:

Fixed.

Yeah, equalizer would be great, I want Tralalala (sp?) to score again.

The ireland team of 94 were all professional footballers. The swiss team are not. Irealnd also has a way bigger legacy and at the time were mananged by football legend Jack Charlton, which brought him and ireland a lot of success.

Not quite the same.

Their campaign to the world cup was ongoing after the Euros. They won the Euros, were heavily favored to win the Confed (stupid yanks), and didn't lose/draw a single match since then. To say that they're cohesive is ridiculous...it's the same team :wtf:

I know the problem, 10 bucks says ing stupid Sergio Ramos decided to play out of position again causing their backline to get weak.

:stongue:

Oi, Ireland is a good team! And I'm impressed by your memory. I don't remember who Brazil played against in the previous world cups... except for the one time we got beaten by France and the amazing match against Holland back in 1994.

Hey, I just saw we beat the US on the 4th July that year, in American territory :p

WTF the goalie got a red card for ing what :wtf:

I sense a red dot on that referees head in the near future.
LAdazeNYnights
yeah that's so unfortunate. i guess the rules are pretty clear but it really just seemed like the player tried to cut the ball away from the goalkeeper, keeper fell backwards, expecting a shot but basically beat- and unintentionally clipped the attackers boot.
