I called Brazil as winners way back at the start of this thread, and the more I watch them the more confident I am. Really good mixture of defensive strength and attacking precision. |
I called spain about 3 years agoto win euros and this & they still can, although Torres seems to have got whatever Rooney had. I think any team with players like Xavi, Villa and Iniesta are going to be good. Brazil are playing unlike Brazil but are winning thus far. It's just not the brazil i loved to watch though, bring back cafu, bebeto and romario :p |

Had you told me a month ago Torres and Messi would have a combined zero goals this far into the tournament, I would have called you crazy.
The difference, of course, being Messi is playing much better. |

Next round will be quite entertaining, Netherlands v Brasil and Germany v Argentina in particular. Can't wait to see those. |
Me neither... I'm inclined to cheer for the Netherlands, but I'm afraid they won't win the cup, which is the only reason why I want them to defeat us :( |

Netherlands wont win. No defense.
You might as well jump on the Brasil gravy train.

Messi draws more attention which has opened it up for others. El Apache and Iguain have taken advantage. |

| Messi scores so many because Barca do and because now they don't have Eto'o. With Zlatan he's had to step up more so. With the argies they have milito, higuain, aguero, di maria, maxi, tevez etc etc so it's not AS important for him to score. |

Yes, I know that. This is not news, Ian.

| of course not but if you look at messi's history for the argies, he's never quite done it so well. it's funny cos with germany podolski & klose have 7 goals between them in league this season and 90 for germany combined. |

No . It's obvious to everyone Spain are good, but because Brazil are not filled with European based stars anymore your idiot on the street doesn't know how good they are. I've been watching them since Dunga took over, through the Copa America, the Confederations Cup and qualifying. I've watched them smash Argentina three times and win everything they've played in. One defeat at high altitude in the last 30 games. |

He has the most goals for Argentina at the moment, with Maxi behind him by a goal. |

I'm not saying they aren't good, and I am aware of pretty much all of their squad & some players who didn't make it, but I don't think they're as potent as they once were, but are getting by because other nations are also like that atm, and others are badly managed. I don't think they've been tested properly yet though by a team with both penetration and form so I look forwards to seeing it. |

You're an expert at massively under-rating good teams, aren't you? |
