but it is football's problem....any major sport wants more people watching and playing their sport over the other sports. Sure soccer is the most popular sport in the world but I'm sure they would love to have a bigger piece of the North American Pie. The other major sports in north america continuously try to gain market share in Europe and you would think football would want to do the same here.
At the risk of alienating the audience all over the world, just to try to accommodate you guys? that.
Besides, from what I've been reading, its popularity is growing in North America. Very slowly, hardly bothering the market share of the big american sports, but it is.

please don't say that. I believe all divers should get red cards.. Its humiliating. My sentiment could not be expressed as well as this commentator.
Not reds, yellows. I'm not condoning it, but it does not seize to be part of the sport.

a red should be given for dives in the penalty area imo.

changing rules in a game is not going to alienate anyone...yes you will get those traditionalists who will bitch and scream about it but if it makes the game better they will come to accept it. There was an uproar in hockey when they took away the rover position and there was an uproar in baseball when they added the designated hitter but today you will find very few people who stopped watching the sport because of the changes. A sport shouldn't be afraid to try changes and see if it doesn't better the sport.
I'm sure you could think of some things about soccer that you would like to see changed that would make it more enjoyable for you.

I don't think you even need to punish the team by making them play a man short...just have that player removed from the remainder of the game.

yeah they were doing really well to start with, then their defense died... once portugal was 2-0, i think they just gave up as well... the goal was just open, and the goalie couldn't stop anything...
portugal played pretty well, but most of the goals were just epic laziness from N.K...
the last few goals were just jokes.
Thanks Egos - I just couldn't see how NK was peppering the portugal goal only to loose it that badly.
I reckon Portugal should have shown a bit of mercy - I mean 5-0 is a absolute drubbing but 7-0 means those players have a private appointment with Emperor Kim when they get home. I feel sorry for them already.
@chemenhanced - you're a complete twat if you're going to choose what sports your kids play based on watching one world cup. And I truly hope you don't get them in to lacrosse unless you're looking forward to be introduced to your son's boyfriend on prom night.

Yes, I guess that would be reasonable if it were extremely obvious.

Who the do you think you are? You obviously don't know about soccer, yet you feel you know how to make the sport better. Just LOL.

people actually still play lacrosse?
it is a little violent for homosexuals imo.

I'm leaning this way more and more, this sport is becoming more backward as time passes by. No video replays, ridiculous diving, no chronometered time, too little referee presence, etc etc etc.
What's chronometered time?

A few things I would change to make the game a little more interesting would be
1. Get rid of off-sides
2. Make the field shorter and narrower
3. Change the penalty system - no more yellow cards or red cards. You foul someone and you are down a man for "x" amount of time.
4. Bring in instant replay for diving and if you are caught diving you are removed for the remainder of the game.
5. Get rid of this continuous time with extra time. Have a stop clock and use it.
You mean...like...hockey? lol

as I've already said...I've watched several world cups and other soccer matches both live and on television so my opinion on the sport is not based solely on this world cup.
Yes...lacrosse turns people gay.

i don't think the game should be tinkered with too much...but when the game gets decided by a dive in the penalty area it compromises the integrity of the sport imo.
i say this as an azurri supporter as well:p
