At work today some guy was talking about how people who blew the horn were immature and some guy started calling him racist for insulting the South African's tradition. |

And what's your take on that? You lived there, didn't you?

Well, I am a little older and only consider myself a wop for a few weeks every 4 years so it is easy to remember an embarrassment like that .
Who can forget Roberto (B)Faggio? |
I know I can't :D
God, I remember I felt really really bad for him that day. I can't imagine what he must've felt like... |

Sys-J, how am I talking utter e?
I stated that 7 players from the starting line up play for local swiss teams and the rest are virtually unknown in the grand scheme of things (unlike the vast majority of the spanish team who are internationally famous/household names) and you just proved me right with a simple google.
Which bit of this can't you compute: Spain (goliath) just got beaten by Switzerland) david. That's all I'm getting at.

I know! Every 6 months or so my inner troll spots an opportunity (+ football is perfect due to the extreme armchair manager punditry) and it takes someone from the production studio to make me send him back in to the cave. Thanks Eddie! |

It's the CoR. I probably have let my inner troll out quite a bit, in here. |

I had to make a short trip to the US yesterday and today, and it's like entering a black hole of no-information about the world cup.
It's as if nothing is happening lol.
To my surprise when I came back, I learned that Spain had lolost hahahaha:gsmile: :gsmile: :gsmile: :gsmile: |

It all depends on where you are, what T.V. stations you check, and the people you are around. Here in California, there are a ton of people that love it. |

Italy vs Paraguay was a great game.
Italy came off weaker than they were last world cup, with many stars from that squad missing or hurt in the case of Pierlo. They controlled most of the game, even though Paraguay did well on defense, with the one Italian goal coming off of a rather perfect time and place situation, with De Rossi receiving a great corner kick. But Paraguay played them right throughout the game, pressing hard on defense, creating opportunities for their offense. I thought Paraguay was going to take this one, but the experienced Italian squad somehow found a way to neutralize the game.
Caught the Brazil vs North Korea game..
Brazil also came off weaker than expected. Or maybe it was because North Korea was playing the same game that Paraguay was playing against Italy. Just relentless supression on defense, but Brazil seemed to have many players with striking ability, it seemed like just about anyone can score or took a chance at scoring. North Korea showed their inexperience in managing the ball, and capitalizing on opportunities, taking poor shots from rather underdeveloped opportunities. That said, NK seemed like a much better team than what they are ranked, they played better than Greece and Nigeria, and that against a better team.
So far i'm rooting for South Korea...simply because they are underdogs, and probably cant match up against the bigger/stronger teams. And the Netherlands as my non underdog pick. |

The vuvuzellas seem to be mixed into the broadcasts by ESPN/ABC to make the games seem more exciting or the crowd more into the game, a broadcasting trick? Throughout the Italy vs Paraguay game, I hardly saw anyone with those things in the crowd due to the rain, understandably people want to keep warm instead. Yet the same amount of annoying noise was coming through. That has an annoying frequency range and timbre, I watch the games with low volume because of it. What was interesting, ESPN/ABC said they would filter out some of the sound.

| It seems like you guys are forgetting the fact that Spain never "got schooled" or that Switzerland never "won in style". If getting schooled is having 90 % possesion, playing great and just being unlucky your big chances didn't go in, then okay i guess they were schooled. And if that goal Switzerland scored was "in style", i don't even know what to say. That was one of the luckiest and clumsiest things i have ever seen. |
