no one is *REQUIRED* to be deployed. it's an all volunteer force. besides, the air force does all of the army and air force support weatherwise, so we have multiple people that get deployed all over the world. in fact, we have a weather guy in djubudi africa, right now. i am currently not eligible to be deployed, soley based on the job i'm @ right now. doens't make sense to send someone w/ no experience to lead troops in a forward deployed environment now, does it?
that's also pretty far from the truth. the middle east goes through weather patterns similar to a norweigen cyclone model....just amplified a little differently. |
i was required to deploy and as the same rank as you, i had zero experience and led troops in Iraq... i guess the Army lets us figure out the the hard way...
and there isnt much need for a weather guy in Iraq... in my 1 year there it rained 2 days..... and from May until October I didnt see one spec of a cloud...
if you were sent to Iraq to do the weather... my god what a in easy job that'd be... we took our AF guys out to take pictures with us.... they were the combat camera dudes... |
