hah
yeah found out about them like two years ago i think and kinda got sick of em
here's the problem, their 'sound' just comes off as kinda gimicky to me, and while its cool at first, i feel like i've heard all the tricks they got to offer and its just more of the same
definitely cool, but haven't listened in a while
and hell, i've been writing a load lately but haven't finished anything but i wanna put out there in case anyone's got a minute to listen, so i'm just gonna use this post for that rather than start a thread or anything, especially since not much of is it trance. and by not much i mean none i think :p
disclaimer: the titles of most of these are just gibberish, something i could save it as so i'd remember what was what. i'm bad with titles :(. ok, here's tha musak

Jimmy eat world/death cab style instrumental, been listening to old JEW stuff lately

Messing around with some drum samples and loops, came out with something moderately funky. Then wanted it to be more than just like a beat to use as a hip-hop instrumental so I added in a nice and random (read: improved in one take) guitar solo.

I feel like i stole this bassline from somewhere. I'm not sure. Anyways, more dicking around mainly, didn't know where to go so i headed off in the general direction of france. very unfinished, no melody, but i like the concept, just gotta put more work into it

Another pretty damn funky beat if I may say so. And it was only a half step out of tune with the acapella I have of sean paul - get busy, so I just tuned that down to match and voila.

Goin for something hip-hop oriented here as well, but something more dramatic. Pump-up music really. And again, random acapella, this time courtesy WuTang

Lighter and more melodramatic side of rock, had been listening to shoegaze and post-rock all day. I’ve since rearranged it a bit but the elements are all in this version. I particularly like the lead guitar part, just a real simple riff, but yeah. This one I’m gonna try to get someone to write lyrics and sing over, that way the lead guitar riff can work its way into a solo rather than being the chorus in itself

slowing things down a bit, a very chilled out number, been listening to Milosh a lot lately (check him out, he’s ing incredible). While I can’t replicate his voice, I’ve been working on using glitched style beats in a more chilled manner and I really like what I got so far, but I’m absolutely stuck on this one.

First actual dance track in here :p Been working with sidechaining a lot lately, taking some time to learn how to get it actually sounding good, and i'm pretty happy with this track so far. been taking a break from it but once i'm in a dance mood again i'm gonna finish it up. might need more of a melody, but yeah

This is probably the coolest one in here, done entirely in samples. Literally everything here was sampled, the drums, guitar, bass, everything. Plus a fairly obscure motown acapella to top it all off :p

Fairly simple hip-hop instrumental, something nice and dark and mellow. Very very happy with the bassline in this one. Plus yet another random acapella over it :p

Aptly named, I was going for the feel of something out of a tim burton movie and not to toot my own horn, but I think I did pretty god damn well. Very happy with this piece
ok, think thats it. Did I mention I’ve been busy :p |
