Don't know what it is, but it just seems like an awesome time for me both as a DJ and as a fan of EDM as far as what's been, and is about to be, released. Just finding insane amounts of great tunes right now.

Yeah, I agree. Exciting times in music. I believe one of the reasons for this is that artists are not making music 'just to make money anymore'. Everyone is running away from the big bad record labels and going back to indies.
Also, because of the internet, music is easier to obtain and it's relatively cheaper. Not to mention all the free vsts and digital sequencers available.
Interesting article I read from Radiohead a couple of weeks ago in regards to their remix competition (that all my friends participated in). Thom mentioned that in the future, the audience is going to have the ability to interact with music in a more personal level. Ordinary people, with the use of technology, will be able to re-arrange (edit, cut, paste) on the run. The tools will be developed so as to breach the gap between 'ordinary hipster' to 'hands-on-hipster' |
