So I dropped my baby off at her first 'real job' this morning. Apparently 5 or 6 years of part-time/full time university isn't enough to make you a proper solicitor, there some kind of traineeship thing they also have to do as well for goodness knows how long. It was odd seeing her not wearing her grotty sneakers and jeans, looking all grown up in a suit, one of my larger blouses, some shiny shoes, hair all pretty and even wearing makeup. :eyespop:
Pay is pretty miserable, hardly seems worth it but I guess the more experience you get the more they pay you like most every other job, it's about the only part of the whole esoteric process I understand. Being that I ditched school when I was 17, I don't know nuffink about advaned edumachations and much less about legal systems, except don't get caught in the first place :p |

Is it "articles" (or whatever it's called) she's doing? Goes for a year or two, I think?
Is she doing criminal or corporate law? I think it varies depending on which, but I could be wrong.
yay to be entering the workforce! Now the weight of the world can crush her spirit! :p |

Guy walks into a bar, sits down and says "All lawyers are wankers". Another guy sitting down the bar looks up and yells "Hey, i take offence to that"
"why, are you a lawyer?"
"no, I'm a wanker" |

Corporate, I don't think anyone wants to do criminal law... it's awful!
(That and family/my nepotism of guilt tripping/calling in favours with people we know in the business to get her a placement :p)
Yeah, I think 2 years of being someone's lackey for crap pay, then she can go buy a stupid BMW, 'cause I'm damned if I'm buying her one! After 2 years of dating me, usually enough to crack anyone's spirit... though you will lose weight, get a crack course in finishing school and learn how to dress properly so you don't come across as a complete numpty :haha:

Hell yeah, my first job paid all of $24,500 a year as a trainee beauty therapist... stumbling out into a 60-70k job seems like too good to be true! |

Good work, a decent placement is fully hard to find.
